I get my contacts through them, sent from Australia, lol. Still cheaper than the local independent, much as I would like to shop local. Expensive things, eyes, we have to save where we can. One thing I don't like about them though is the moment they spot silver hair they start upselling hearing tests. But hey, I am good at saying no thanks.

Mum is getting deaf too. But it was a toss up between eyes and ears.
She loves her painting so really it wasn't too hard a choice.
Lol Kiwimade. Men just take a while to process things. I always found I could get my way if I planted the seed of thought. Then days later it would be His idea and a good one.
I didn't care whose idea it was, so long as it got done lol
They told me I couldn't, so I did.!!

Scoot has a clean bill of health, quirks explained if not eliminated, and Dave pronounced it a good machine. With superior suspension - I had figured that out for myself lol.
But good to get the confidence reinforced! Now I am off for a road trip, to celebrate.

lol popeye. It was like that yesterday pulling the yukka out of the pot. Says me, I think I'll soak the pot and use the water pressure to blast the dirt away, that should help. MrK: no, that will just swell everything up and nothing will move. Half an hour of digging and cutting later, MrK: maybe you could use the water pressure from the hose to wash the dirt out and that will loosen it. And he wondered why he got an eye roll.

Morning all
Warm day started off with misty hills
Love the sentiment Harm_less.
I am will you re eyeroll KM had one with Dh recently regarding jeans waist bands easing over the day
Best thing I did was getting my cataracts done got accommodating lens so no need for glasses / contact lens still have stigmatism but that manageable. Took me ages to get out of my contact lens routine felt like I was missing doing something.
Been into city this morning haircut and some errands, bought couple books for DG kids just because I can
Enjoy your day

I am just plain old myopic. Very myopic, legally blind without the lenses. Contacts are so much better than coke bottle specs though, had enough of those monstrosities and the bullying they attracted as a kid growing up. First thing I did with my first decent pay packet was go get contacts, and an expensive hair cut. Walked back into work and everyone did a double take, it was so much fun. I know looks aren't important, but when you are 21 and reserved it does wonders for the confidence levels, lol

morning ladies It started off a beautiful morning but is beginning to cloud over. Perfect for watering the garden.
Not a lot happening today, a few more things to take to the op shop and the dead flies need vacuuming up.
The Furry One is checking out the rabbits, they are so bold and don't care if he is there. One day they will...
Happy crafting

Glasses dont worry me now. Started out my Twin needed them from very young. me not until I wt thas about 21 for close work. Hés had his eye lasered, in Aussie and doesn't wear glasses now, I wear them full time lol
I have enjoyed my Long weekend. But happy to go back for painting today. I've missed everyone. well excluding the judgmental one. Turns out he didn't lose his phone, just half his contacts, including his mum. I suggested he call the retirement place, dohhh he hadn't thought of That. I said get in fast before your Mum growls for you not contacting her lol.
Finished the 4th piece of the picture. But it was a late night and my eyes feel like they have been in the desert.. lol. And getting a bit of RSI in the thumb lol... So time out today will help. Will have to kit down and then up again for the next picture.
Have a fab day everyone

Good morning.
Bright sunshine and a little breeze ... expecting 25 degrees today. 30's elsewhere!
DH was to have the day off yesterday to get moles removed but the Clinic rang to say the doctor called in sick and rest going down like flies ... hmm, wonder what is going round Had coffee out while doing jobs and he returned to work.
No more planting new seedlings here with us heading south for nearly a month. A bit of a worry with it getting so hot and dry already. Son hasn't inherited the gardening genes ... partner definitely has none! I shall hand him ' watering instructions' lol!
Patience furry one ... my Burmese boy had a ton ... it always won out!
Had better get moving for groceries.
Enjoy the day all.

I remember cats and rabbits... Life lesson for my five year old daughter discovering that beloved cats can be killers of fluffy baby bunnies.
Bit of blue sky out there, so I think I shall take my latest and new stitching project down to the village for coffee and see what my two creative buddies think of this bit of old lady rebelliousness. I am adding a densely overstitched tino rangatiratanga flag to the back of the denim jacket I took the sleeves off. Pearly queen on the front, political gang patch on the back, lol. Should be interesting reactions, one friend is very woke, the other not so much!
I blame my Dad for making me enjoy teasing people, I inherited his sense of humour...

Morning all
Overcast mist on hills which should burn off later this morning
OHH starting a scoot gang????
Forgot to mention yesterday that I lost my diamond ring down shower , the shower here has fancy chrome grill and the waste pipe goes down further than my arm could reach. Put in request to maintaince bloke and he turned up while I was in city. He sucked the water out with wet vacuum cleaner and luckily my ring was retrieved with the water a big whew! He then noticed that our bathroom sink was a bit slow in draining and spent quite a bit of time sorting that out so a win also provided entertainment for DH and k9.
No plans for today other than have appointment after lunch, will go to emporium and get some buttons for my latest jacket while out and about.
Enjoy your day

lol indeed you do, OHH
MrK saw a request from the fire brigade in the local rag asking rural people to make sure they have an adapter on the water tank for their hoses to hook up too if needed. We had never even thought of that so will check out what needs to be done. Just as well we are on a bore and the tank is always full for emergencies. I wouldn't want to rely on rainwater if there was a fire.

Lol OHH, look forward to seeing the 'gang' patch jacket
Lucky break ... managing to retrieve the ring Mica!
We have a bore here ... would also never have considered having an adaptor in case of fire emergency! It would probably pay to have a visible sign advertising the fact for the fire fighters as well!

I saw a cool scooter today. It looked like a normal scooter in the front but twin wheels on the back. Wouldn't hold many of my drinks tho lol.
Glad you got your ring back Mica. Id hate to lose mine.
Panting was a small group today..
Sadly, but not really, we discovered the Compas Boss who was at the home got spoken to. We told him about the tough inedible meat. Etc.
Then once he went back to the kitchen I said Lucky woman who has him. Well he has someone cos his Hiki's are fading on his neck. he was rather yummy lol
That of course turned into norty discussions and we were all saying Dianne was the only one with a hubby able to keep her happy lol. It was rather funny lol.
Some of the staff are wearing their Christmas earrings so Im starting early, on Friday. I have Tonnes so it will be a different pair each day Im there lol
I managed to get two of the five piece kit muddled up. I've kitted up for the biggest piece. And when I've done that Ill totally strip one of the smallest pieces and redo it. Thank god for double sided tape and my Patience cos it could end up super frustrating. but Ill get it done. I dont like to be beaten.. Stubborn Taurean lol

Must admit I was tempted by those imported three wheelers, bright colours, good styling, but three wheels on our horrible pavements would be dangerous. Even being careful and with the higher ground clearance and bigger wheels I managed today to beach myself crossing a gutter onto a driveway. When they reseal roads they add inches of tarseal height, reflected in more depth at the gutters and curbs, and it can be a real trap for our wheels - not something the designers take into account.
But with an aging population, maybe soon they'll have to think about us.
Meantime we just have to be aware.

morning ladies It was clear outside five minutes ago, now we have a light mist.
That's a relief about your ring, mica. It would be devastating to lose it. And great the maintenance guy came so quickly. My sister has to wait ages for hers to turn up.
Yep, MrK's scooter is three wheeled and he is very conscious of the footpath's camber and all the bumps and cracks. They are resealing a main road in town and boy, they have piled on the seal.
Our road was use as a diversion again yesterday afternoon after a major crash closed SH1. Bus v car usually ends in a sad result.
The finches are drinking the water left in the garden sprinkler, better check the bird bath for fresh water this morning. And it's probably time to leave a bowl of water under the outdoor table for the Furry One again.
Last evening the Furry One went outside to check on 'his' rabbits and a baby one came racing towards him as if they were best friends! Shook my head at the Furry One and left him to it. I'm hoping this is part of a cunning plan

(This post was last modified: 28-11-2024, 06:49 AM by Oh_hunnihunni.)
Last night, happily sitting up in bed with book and remote, herself suddenly got up from my knees and focused on my bedside lamp. I turned my head to spot two extraordinarily long whiskers floating in the air over the edge of the shade, apparently under control rather than just waving in the breeze. So I investigated and discovered one of the biggest wetas I have ever met, one that required a rather large jar and a handy leftover birthday card to shepherd out to freedom in the night air.
How different my reaction has become, since my thirteen year old self waking up at 2am, screaming fit to raise the dead, to brush two of the creatures off my face. Both parents arrived of course, searched the bedroom and pronounced me to be dreaming...
Next morning I opened up the arms of my skirted dresser to find the beasts inside the curtains, more screaming resulted naturally enough. Along with a small sense of pleasure to be proved less inclined to imagine night time monsters invading my dreams.
I have become so much braver in my old age. And kinder. The thought of fly spray didn't even enter my head.
