Good morning.
Blue sky and sunny after a cool start. Will put the duvet inner back in tonight!
The downgraded cyclone Alfred still scary ... the stupid people rescued off (closed) beaches should be fined!
Nice dinner out last night, even better not paying for it.
Have taken note of Thelma. We're watching Protection on TV+1 a thriller, a few of which we have watched lately, the last one the Crow Girl also TV+1. Lol, probably not the best viewing before bedtime
Better get a few groceries needed then back outside in the garden.
Enjoy the day all.

Oh we know that powerless feeling, amazing how often younger folk seem to think they know best. And how shocked they are when presented by a stroppy older person who obviously knows more than they do, lol. It is one of the choices that come with getting to be a senior. Do we stand up for ourselves, or just let it go for the sake of a peaceful life?
Cool but breezy here, funny how fast it has changed from hot and sticky, almost as if someone has pushed a switch. Housewashing contractors arrive tomorrow so we have to move things for them and put towels down everywhere because those jets find every tiny gap, and the bathroom windows are louvres which means wet floors and toilet seats no matter how careful they are. Then on Tuesday we have the fire brigade arriving to lecture us on how not to burn down our units, again - don't know whether that's just because two of our lot have tried it already, or if the powers that be just like to repeat the exercise every few months. I will be avoiding that event, despite the fact I think the fire brigade are angels in big boots, I just dislike that patronising effort that is the other aspect to being told what to do.
And our ancient neighbour still hasn't been returned to sender, so we are more positive about her maybe getting that assessment she needs. Fingers crossed. Or maybe its just because the geriatric team don't work weekends...

Morning everyone
Its going to be a beautiful day, compared to yesterday that was dull grey for most of it.
I've pretty much done most of the kitchen. I've decided tho that I want to get into the corner cupboard. Which means getting down on the floor.
Something I haven't done in a year.. well nearly cos its a year since my knee Opp on March 21st. So Ill see how I go. Ill make sure I have stuff nearby to help me get up and that the front door is open incase I need help lol.
Cricket is on today, so hopefully it doesn't get rained off.. I did finally figure out who does all the loud talking etc on our team. Its the wicket keeper. It drives me nuts.. Im sure they dont need encouragement after every ball.
Have a wonderful day everyone
They told me I couldn't, so I did.!!

While I understand the impulse to not upset the President of the United States, I also see how he reverses direction when met with polite but firm opposition. Canada for example. He is like a damaged child, he follows a pattern of behaviour that is clearly predictable. Trudeau, as Canada is acting like an experienced, loving but firm parent, and it works - possibly because that is what he needs, and wants, and has never had.
Appeasement never works when we face bullies, naughty children, or insane people. We need to remember who we are, what we believe to be right, and have the strength of courage to stand up for those things. Kowtowing to those who don't is joining them, not beating them.

I so agree, OHH. Stand up to the bullies, I love the Canadian slogan 'elbows up'. It has been taken from their ice hockey where you put your elbow up to protect yourself and also jab your opponent.
Roma, we've also been watching Crow Girl and Protection on TVNZ+. Soooo good! The Brits know how to make a good drama. Mind you, the Swedes also know how to make a good murder-mystery if you can put up with the dubbing.

I can't help seeing the slightly bitter irony in the fact that, despite being the world's most gun-happy country it was somewhow the two most rotten shots in the entire country who decided to take a pot shot at their glorious leader...

My son is not advocating kowtowing to anybody - but as Mexico has proved dealing with a lunatic the way they have has been advantageous to Mexican workers - Trudeau on the other hand has put his workers jobs in serious jeopardy- OK for him as he has already quit. My sons factory that manufactures those stairs employs 139 rural kiwis - 8 have completed their apprenticeships- there are 3 families with 3 generations working there - they don’t have high value homes they can sell and move elsewhere - if that factory closed the school would close plus the local mechanic and the 4 square - these jobs are typical of those at risk all round NZ absolutely reliant on exports .It’s not kowtowing in my opinion keeping your head below the parapet when a lunatic is at the controls - delaying the tariffs on Mexico but not Canada has proven that he isn’t driven by logic but purely by power and the few manufacturing jobs we do have left in NZ in my opinion are worth keeping our mouths shut for - but obviously I am biased I have seen the good that has come from that factory and the pride of the men - including my son -who developed the machines that can turn a pile of waste wood into stairs that Americans really want -they also export to China furniture kit sets again using what normally would have been dumped. I think Trump will be taken out - lucky if he lasts a month - his administration is already turning on Musk - Trumps govt will implode for sure
But what a great world we live in Hunni where we all have our opinions and are free to voice them - I admit I am biased but there is a lot of pride and hard work that goes into those exports and let’s hope that orange haired lunatic doesn’t destroy it

Oh I enjoy you posts Jan, you challenge my opinions and make me think. We are blessed indeed to live in this country, and not some others. If you haven't seen Hipkins on todays Q&A, I am looking forward to your response to that interview, lol...
As for jobs and exports, I am a fan of self sufficiency. If only we could build a fairer economy on that basis!
And I think those pieces your son is producing are utterly beautiful. And very 'Green', lol! All power to him...

I've shown MrK the pics, Jan and he thinks they are a brilliant idea My American friend thinks it will all come to a head shortly, there is only so much The Orange Lunatic's government can take. The Canadian people aren't so forgiving and reading their posts on FB, they are blo**y angry. I went to uni with a Canadian and am still friends with her. She's furious but understands it isn't all Americans. There will be very little forgiveness for quite some time though. We will just have to ride it out for now, we can't change American politics. And I for one am also grateful we live here (in spite of Winston Peters )

I hope your American friend is right, & the Orange Peril doesn't last; he's caused more than enough damage already & needs to be removed.
Preferably to the nearest fully qualified, experienced psychiatrist for an evaluation, treatment & hospitalisation if needed.
You do have to feel sorry for those who voted thinking he'd fix everything there.

Trouble is behind Trump there is Vance. And behind him Thiel, and Musk, and a few others staying out of the spotlight. Or the crosshairs. We're probably safer with Trump, because he's dumber than the rest.

Then perhaps a wee bus trip for them all on one of those 'most dangerous roads'....

Agree he is a Nutter..
I will always say that kid that "Tried" to take a pot shot at the Orange Boss, was an excellent marksman.. He belonged to a shooting club. Thats probably why they hired him.
It was all a paid for stunt.. The ones that paid that day were the family and friends of those that did get killed and injured.
I wonder if the Orange Boss pardoned him yet.. Highly possible its on the cards if not already done secretly.
I decided not to try getting down on the floor..
Did some washing instead. And then I've been painting.
Then thought Id check in on my Fave Bro in law , had to ring back and in between the calls Cliffie's son arrived. My Blardy sister in law was trying to match us up..!!!!!!
I said there's probably a law against that.. But what I didn't say was Im not interested in a druggie.... and one of their family was enough Thank you. I will tell her that next time Im talking to her tho. She had the phone on speaker phone so I couldn't very well be rude then.
Just cos she cant live without a man it doesn't mean I cant. Im enjoying not having to run around after a male.
They told me I couldn't, so I did.!!

Thought it wiser to not do it since Im trying to stop using big pain meds.
And on that front. Soo far soo good. I listen to my body and sit when needed.. I always having something to do while sitting tho.

morning ladies It looks like we're in for another gorgeous day.
I'm assuming she means well, popeye lol.
There is a list of things to do today including having my covid jab. But first I have to move a salvia plant I put in the wrong place. I forgot a fence post is going there. MrK joked the plants must shudder when I walk by and wonder if they will be next to be moved lol. But lots of the plants need dividing this year. I'm especially looking forward to having more hostas.
Now I've done the hem for this bedside table cover thingy, I'm thinking a fringe around it would be nicer. Kinda in that 'groove' after finishing the previous one like that. I'll finish it and see.
The Furry One turns 14 tomorrow, a grand age for a dog. He has his mid-morning, mid-afternoon, and early evening naps What a life lol. And he was most put out I used some of his food to bait the cat cage last evening. I'll check on that shortly.
Sounds like MrK is stirring, the Furry One won't be up for another half hour or so lol.
Happy crafting

Good morning everyone
Looks like it might be another clear day. Meant to be 26.
Nah the Sister in law doesn't think, that's half her problem lol.. The odd thing is the stepson is a druggie, but hers that does the same thing isn't..
Have to get a quote for the dryer and take that and my letter into the WINZ office.. Will pop into the supermarket and then be home to do my games and paint.
14 is a good age for your kuri Kiwimade. He has a good life.
I was telling the family about David here and bugger me he text. Even said he misses our chats.. Suggested Dianne and I meet him for coffee.. Umm first of all neither of us drink it lol.. And he just doesnt seem to understand we dont want to go to the home right now. In saying that we both reckon he will keep visiting the home after Campbell goes. I stayed on safe topics like the weather and Maxi.
Have a fab day everyone

We're due for our next Covid and 'flu shots next month. Is the pharmacy still doing them on a walk-in basis? Last time we booked through "Manage my Vaccine" but got the run around because the booking system wasn't functioning, and we ended up just having to call the pharmacy every day to find out if they had stocks.

Morning all
Not a cloud in the sky
Just dropped DGD1 to daycare , her parents get home late tonight .
Having a quiet day might get to sandwich up quilt this afternoon.
I think I pop to cafexand see what salads they have that we can have with our dinner tonight. We had corned beef with mustard sauce last night did cook some nuggets in case she didn't like corned beef. That was a good call but she loved the mustard sauce and polish up all veges and nuggets with sauce.
Good age for the furry one KM of course it helps that he has a good life living with you. Most of our terriers good to 16 yr
I think I need a coffee this morning notvused to busy morning getting small person fed etc she does like to dress herself so today she is wearing 3 pairs panties leggings and two dresses one short sleeved and one long. Stick on ear rings
Enjoy your day
It's fun to have fun but you have to know how
