You can never have enough...
Oh wow Kiwimade what a mess.

I bet the driver might not be thinking how lucky they are when the Bills start coming in.

Thats why I think we should have to have insurance like they do in England.

You need you r insurance company on speed dial nearly.. But that's enough for now I reckon.
Big Grin They told me I couldn't, so I did.!! Big Grin

One of our lot was whinging about our brief spurt of winter today till I pointed out how lucky we were to have missed that storm. Then, when out and about this afternoon we saw Watercare trucks in our streets, pumping out flooded drainage - being on a hill lets us forget a lot of our suburb is actually at sealevel, and floods all too easily, especially now leaves are falling...

But still, nothing nearly like the south...

We missed it here in Dunedin, Hunni - the weather was a bit cold with showers, but no gales or flooding.

Ours was brief, but heavy lol. I stood at the door and watched, the air was wonderful, scented, newly washed clean...

And followed by the bluest skies. I love this country.

The computer wasn't charging, and I could smell something funny. And the smoke alarm kept going off. Found the culprit, the power surge took out the power protector thingymajig (can't think of its name lol). It's black and so is the plug to the multiboard the computer and printer were plugged into. I guess the thingymajig did its job, was worth every cent!

In spite of all the drama today, we had a gorgeous day. No rain or wind Smile The storm passed us by with little damage but those living directly under the Kaimai Range had two days without power.

morning ladies Smile We have a lovely calm day so far, a breeze would be nice for the washing I had to hand wring yesterday afternoon. My friend has said I can borrow her washing machine today so I can rinse and spin yesterday's load and do a small load today. I'll also pop into Noel Leemings and see if they have the washing machine I want. AMI agreed to pay for it, just have to round up the policy excess. And I need to call into the police station to find out the driver's details as AMI will be chasing him to get their $$$ and our excess back. Not holding our breath for that one.

Other than that, our day will resume normal transmission (I hope) lol.

It has been a long time since I needed to have insurance, but surely if the claimant was completely uninvolved in the incident they don't pay their excess? Or is that a policy variant? Seems a bit unfair if the damage was completely uninvited on your part especially when you had done all you could to offset...
Reply
For the car I didn't need to pay the excess as the third party had insurance and there was no doubt he was at fault (even though he tried to argue he wasn't). This time round though, getting the money out of this young guy could (more likely will) take time and end up at the debt collectors. So, we have to find the policy excess and have it reimbursed when/if AMI get the money back. Seems unfair to me too, but AMI are covering their butts. In the meantime, my friend has said to use her machine anytime, but I think I'll use the laundromat rather than take advantage of a friendship. It won't be for long, just until our emergency stash has built up a bit more.

Ahhh, I see. And yes, very unfair making the customer cover their butts, lol. But I guess that's why insurance companies have one of those reputations. More 'money ahead of people' thinking.

I hope you find the perfect machine km, with just the right number of bells and whistles!

Still freezing here but the sun appears every now & then so have done all the washing I wasn;t able to do during the wet week we've had. A state of emergency was apparently declared at one point & included mostly Banks peninsula especially Akaroa & Ashburton.

Apart from obligatory dog walks its the first tine I've ventured out but needed bread so while around there checked Whitcoulls for a new address book since mine is n ot onlly full but also very much out of date - there are people in it who are a bit dead,so its ever so slightly out of date.

None to be had dammit but while biking home I vaguely remembered seeing an alphabetised notebook in the desk so had a look & voila! Excellent find, so will get to adding current addresses when I have time.

Afternoon everyone

Dashed up to the Drs with my stupid toe. 2 Hour wait but that pretty much flew by. And yes the right thing to do with the heart being stupid like it is.

Wow Kiwimade so pleased you had the Thingamejig too.. It does suck that you have to find the excess and then pretty much cross your finger you will get it back. I am reinstating my contents insurance on the 25th , I have hated every minute of not having it. but simply couldn't afford to keep it at the time. I know I will sleep easier.

Washing is out. And My fave wrap is in the machine. I went to the cafe cos I hadn't taken my drink with me. They dont sell water so paid $5 for a bunderburg Peach and when I opened it, it went everywhere. A Nurse helped clean me and the floor up.. And also told me they would have got me water if I had asked.. So at least I know now.

Im still cold even tho the sun has been out all day.

My trial run scones will wait till this evening.

Have a good day all.

Oh Missy approves of the litter house and has used it.. YES !!!!

A bit dead! omgg lol love it!

hells bells washing machines are expensive lol. So glad it is only the excess we pay. But the Fisher & Pykel one that will replace my old ancient F & P machine has no agitator in the middle so it will take bigger loads. And a clear lid so I can see if what is in there. I don't want a front loader; I like being able to open the lid and toss in the odd sock that was forgotten without having to wait for the water level to go down and then the machine having to fill again.

I was very fortunate in that youngest grandson & his lovey partner gave me theirs when they beetled off to Brisbane earlier this year. The one I was using was a pain in the proverbial & likely wouldn't have lasted much longer so i was extremely grateful to have it - & then he came & took mine away. I said that if there's a fee for the dump to let me know so I can give him the money...the little sweetie darling just gave me a funny  little smile & carried on loading it onto his trailer.

Love Both a Bit dead or Slightly dead...

And for that reason I have always written my address book in a pencil lol.

I have a Hier Top loader Kiwimade. It doesn't have an agitator. We brought it ourselves.. You have to be very careful when loading them. But if you do that you wont have any trouble..

And THAT is the reason why a lot of people who get new machines from WINZ Hate them. They reckon they are crap... Noo take your time loading them and you will be fine.

Hier are a subsiduary of F and P... so they may be similar.

Well I made scones.. Tasted nice, were nice and light.. but the baking paper was a breathe away from burning. The smoke alarm went off..

Kinda panicking about baking tomorrow. But I will drop the temp and the rack and watch very closely. At least Ill be able to sit on my cool stool and watch.

I would chose expensive and technical items to cook lol. 8 eggs all up.

Every year I forget how the sun gets lower and starts to move patches of warm onto the foot of my bed. But the resident furperson doesn't. It's nice though, the heavyweight load suddenly ups itself from my lap and goes over to begin duty as a heat collector, and the blood flow returns to my knees in time for the second cup of tea making, and the Q&A episode.

Morning everyone

Certainly cool today.. But the sun is up.

Grateful having a hot breakfast in the winter lol

Im going to vacc this morning and then get the cake made.. Lemon Meringue pie I might do the pastry and filling. but do the meringue part early tomorrow.

One of the smoke alarms was beeping. but now I have the heat pump on its stopped... dont think I've ever noticed if the temp can make a difference.

Ill also dig out another blanket...

Fanny sent me a photo of Mount Egmont late yesterday. She looks Magestic covered in snow. Will always be my fave mountain.

Was talking to MrP's Nephew Son as we call him yesterday. He was feeling rather lonely. He had shingles In his eye.. he said along with the pain it means he cant stand light in it.. Has been thinking about pushing to get it taken out. Its a big step but he's been thinking about it for a year. he's like us.. If its not useful and is causing pain all the time get rid of it.
I told him to talk to the drs and specialists and see what they say.

He's only 7 years younger than me but really drew the short straw in his family for the health stuff. He will always be my Boy tho. And he used to call MrP Uncle Dad.

Have a wonderful day everyone. Stay warm and dry

Good morning.

Cloudy and cold.  The fire is great ... the cats think so also ... given the other heating currently down and being upgraded. Hopefully there will be sun again to heat up the rest of the house!

Happy birthday KM ... enjoy your day doing what you want.

An eye rolling moment before seeing a picture of Trump as the Pope ... he wishes!

No plan for the day ... a walk will be included,  maybe to the nearby cafe for coffee. More watering of outdoor young trees and vege garden needed.

Enjoy the day all.
