I am not actually brave enough to wear all that outrageous gold embroidery on the outside, let alone shout Queen at the world, but the thought did make me grin. Just as I might not be brave enough to actually wear the little (or not so little, going on my oversized skull) purple felt cloche hat with bright pink felt flowers on the band, that I indulged in after the latest frosty morning turned my ears into very chilled appendages. I rarely come across hats big enough to not look silly on me, but this one was described as a 60cm so I have hopes it will sit neatly - even if I have to drop the twisted bun a bit lower to make room. And of course the thought that the colour might match the coat was too tempting to ignore, especially when the seller dropped a third off her asking price on the offer she sent me.

So that will make for vast amusement next week, playing ladies in the mirror while trying to convince myself to risk looking like a complete idiot on the next cold morning!

Morning everyone

Tad chilly but nice with the sun out.

Madam has deemed its ok, but sort of under protest that she sit on my legs since Ive shut her out of the bedroom where she sits in the sun.. but that's cos she will hide under the bed and make it impossible to leave until she comes out.

Ohh I love the Hat Hunni.. the mother told me once I could wear anything on my head and it would look stylish. I like beanies tho. I have quite a few.

Bloods , gas and shopping today. I saw a recipe yesterday that contains 750 grams of chocolate.. The base and top is rice bubbled out into milk or dark chocolate, the middle is a caramel with white chocolate in it.. it only makes a 8 x 8 inch tin.

Absolutely wicked.. and I will eat every piece for as long as it takes.. And each time I do I will think of my stepfather who would be able to eat it mouthful to mouthfull with me.

Just as well its only $2-39 a block in Pak n Save this week, and I need a caramilk for a birthday present too lol.

I might have to move my rocking chair out into the sun in the mornings and take a book out and enjoy the sun. One of my meds means I have to be super careful in the sun or I will fry, but the morning sun should be ok.

Just thought the bloods might be a mess although it is a few days since my 3 days in a row of red meat lol. But I DONT CARE lol..

Have an awesome day everyone

*chants* wear it! wear it! wear it!... No point having it if you aren't going to wear it and who gives a flying toss what others think. Being older gives you that 'right' to not give a dam. We've earned it Tongue I love it and it's hand made too! Honour the maker by wearing it Smile

Tiger lilies have been moved, omg some of the bulbs were huge. One would fit in my hand completely. And I had three that size. And the horrible shrub has been cut back waiting for our garden person to grind the stump when he comes next. There is quite the gap where it was and hopefully the pretty lily shrub thing next to it will grow into the space.

Time for lunch Smile

I might be slightly regretting not stitching it to the outside, lol.

I think that would be even better. Smile

And definitely wear the hat!

Have to say I enjoyed that round of shopping.. shitloads of choccie, but as it is a part of every day life I decided to buy it while it was dirt cheap.

The other best buy was 2 liters of Tip top of Vanilla ice cream for $2-59. Limit of two.. I'm not a big vanilla ice cream eater, but as I was having the choccie pudding last night I thought it would have been nice to have with it. So Yes I got two. And I have enough pudding for tonight.

And apples for $1-49 a kilo...

I wonder how many people went in multiple times or a couple got 2 each type things.

Ive made a decision, Im going to have a winter lounge and summer lounge. Ill stay as it is now for the rest of this winter and summer but as it cools down next year I will swap them over. My bedroom gets the sun for the greater percentage of the day. It is a much warmer room so through winter it should be more livable. The rooms are the same size, basically mirror image but opposite. And the TV works in there also.

Cant wait to tell Dianne cos she is worried about me being so cold.

Gayle messaged me and she said she was glad Im in her Fathers house. It feels warm and inviting now. Warm in the energy not temp. She had horrible memories from here but she said she's leaving those in the past now.

Im soo pleased its changed for her. I know even on my birthday she wasn't quite her normal self.

morning ladies Smile Well, now that's what I call a frost! lol

Not a lot happening today, MrK's caregiver comes again to help. I wonder if they realise just how much we appreciate the help. I thank them every time and tell them this.

Yesterday I moved the bird feeder a little closer to the house and now won't have to walk on wet grass to top it up. And we have a better view of the birds. Our garden center has a cage around the food to stop the bigger birds like mynahs getting to the food, but the little birds can fly through the gaps safely. Might have to buy one as those mynahs are bullies.

As we were leaving Path Lab yesterday, we chatted to a couple. He had a cane and MrK had his walking frame. They joked who would be faster and the man said he had his hip done 10 days ago. He was using a frame like MrK up until then. A real game changer! It's inspired MrK Heart We both really needed to see and talk to someone to see there is an end in sight. Someone who wasn't family and wouldn't gloss over it. I think it gave MrK a real boost.

Housework today, not much to do as MrK's caregiver cleans the loo and bathroom. I could always have a bash at digging out Albertine and some weeds need spraying in between the salvias I planted out on the main road. Better dig out my high viz vest for that one.

Time to face the day Smile

The before and after difference really is mind blowing, and the way they use pain killers these days is a real game changer in post op recovery. My first hip required ten days in hospital rehab with a physio, my second I was out and managing well 48 hours after, that's progress for you. Mr K will not know himself. The trick will be taking it slowly lol, so tempting to push our luck!

I saw somewhere that hanging an upturned wire hanging basket over the bird feeder protects it from pigeon and mynah raids. I don't need it as I stick to fruit, and the wax eyes seem happy to let the tuis pop in for a few sips everynow and then. They are all a real joy to watch...

Youtube is such a saving grace for us tech challenged idiots. My phone ran out of charge so I plugged it in and left it, but once at 100% I couldn't get it to start again. Until I went on youtube and discovered how to restart a phone without using the power button. Bless those tech savy youtubers, now I am all connected again. Till next time, lol...

The mynahs must be feeling the cold as they have been munching on the fruit we left out as well. Will give that upturned wire basket a go Smile

Still waiting for MrK's caregiver... she was meant to be here just after 9.00am. No word from her or the company so sitting on hold with the company to see what is going on.

Morning everyone

The sun is up, Im slow today lol. But I dont have plans so that's cool.

Amazing how things change once things are replaced Kiwimade. Its not easy but so worth it.. I knew two men who both Didn't do what they were told, thought they knew more than the Drs and suffered for it.. I can say with very little sympathy from the spouses too. MrK strikes me as being different.. I would say the part that will most likely get messed up, more than the surgery will be his INR.. But as you know they come right eventually.

And often the home help is better for the spouses than the person needing it too. Enjoy, its not often we get breaks like that.

Speaking of the INR I knew mine would be narly yesterday lol.. 3.4 which is the highest its been for ages, but I also know it was all that lovely venison that did it, so was expecting it .

Once Im done here Im going to take my rocking chair, cushion and a book, and water out and sit in the sun for an hour. I have some bread for the birds, I know fruit would be better and I dont have seeds, but I will get some. The birds have obviously been fed out the front cos the bread out the back takes ages to vanish lol.

I must get one of the window screens and see if will fit the bedroom windows, then Missy can sit sort of with me but inside. I could put her in a cage tho.

Need to dig out my other pair of thermal fingerless gloves. My fingers were swollen last night, been a little itchy too so I looked up chill blains. Which I used to get a lot. There wasn't any redness, BUT it solved what was the problem on my toes a while back. I had forgotten about them as its been many years since I had any.

Right Ill get things done on here, get dressed and take in some VIT D. And start the Tattooist of Auschwitz.

Have a fab day all

Why havent I dont that before.

It was lovely sitting out in the sun. Rocking it like an older person in my chair. I also put a screen in the spare room window so Madam could sit on the shelf I pout there for her and talk to me... Not that I heard a lot cos they were cutting the two Palm trees down at the house across the road, Nikau Palms.

Came in on an hour cos it was very warm. Left the front door open for a while for fresh air.

Madam enjoyed it until she got her claw caught in the screen, time to trim them again. She knows to wait and Ill help her tho. I will do it everyday and it will be good for both of us, Well unless its raining of course lol.

The book is exactly like the Tv show but better cos I can see the faces. And it has bits that the show doesn't. And i hadn't realized but I ordered a large print copy so an easy slip back into reading.

The birds of course came for the bread once I was back inside.. but they will gain trust.

I'd put a hold on a book - The cat who saved the library because it sounds interesting & a light-ish read which I decided would make a nice change. So when they emailed me that it had arrived I called in to collect it...but alas, not on the holds shelf. So, asked a librarian for help. She checked all of the shelf in case it had been put under another alphabet letter, nope, not there.
So then another librarian joined the search, checked out the back, checked under the non fiction hold shelf - nowhere in sight.

So having asked if I minded a wait (are they mad - there are books?!) they apparently turned the entire library upside down & eventually discovered that it had somehow been put on the wrong trolley when returned & so was among shelved as usual books.
Librarians are brilliant.

The book had better be truly excellent...

Here they used to [pop a piece of paper with your name on it, into the book and put on the holds shelf.

I guess the rediculous Privacy act [perhaps stopped that.)

So Now they are put on numbered shelves and if you dont remember the name of the book and which shelf its on, your in trouble lol.  I've learnt to write it down from the email so I can find them. Easy yesterday cos they were two parts of the  Tattooist series. I had the third part first. But the two yesterday were on different shelves. not sure why lol.

Ill just renew them if Im slow.

I've seen my old geography teacher in there twice already. He also has Coffee with Annie from the home and the one I gave the ornament to The Summer Santa, he's not spoken since but he does love it apparently lol.

Ohh Apparently Colleen is getting transferred to Wellington. her daughter told Dianne.. I kind of hope she wont want to see us before she goes. It will be hard. Cos then we will probably see Annie as well.

Im not mentioning it to David. Will see if he knows and how he handles it

So now I have to juggle my hobbies, lol Games, Painting and reading and the need to sew at some stage too. To make new tri pillow cases..

Life is tough when you have soo many choices lol..

morning ladies Smile No frost but there is a chill in the air Smile Yesterday's frost took ages to go.

Yep, popeye, mrK is one for doing what the doctor says and will do the exercises before and after surgery.

Yesterday it was so warm we both stripped off our jumpers, a sure sign summer is on the way.

My sister called in to say she has sold her house and is now becoming a nomad living in a massive RV. The lifestyle suits her, and she is happy. Not my thing as I would miss the space of being in my home and the garden but as long as she is happy, that's all that matters.

Today I'll finish spraying the weeds out on the main road and make a start in digging out Albertine. I have 10 big pieces of concrete I dug out of the garden edging a couple of years ago and was going to use them as steppingstones but we have decided they need to go as they will become too slippery in winter. The next project will be to break them into smaller bits and get rid of them. Might advertise them on our local garden page first, someone might like them for something, who knows. Otherwise, the sledgehammer will be out in force.

While the main road is quiet(ish) I'm off outside to finish the weed spraying.
