Microsoft have yet again clamped down on previous methods to create local accounts during installation.
Here is another method to get around this, it involved more steps unfortunately, but at least its possible.
How long before M$ disable this entirely?
I will go linux the day that they make it impossible to use a local account.
Here is a good video from Linus on the subject.

The linked Video in Post # 3 -- I'm calling BS on some of his knowledge. In the Video he claims you can only pause windows updates for TWO WEEKS--LOL BS.
Its up to 5 weeks, has been like that in W10 & W11.
Pictures as proof.
Edited: The using a Local account instead of a MS Account on install- Errrr yeah you can, just installed two Brand new computers 25H2 made a local account right off the bat. "Maybe" if its a laptop or Store brought PC with Windows pre-installed that may be different - Let you know possibly Thursday
Upgrades = Old bugs replaced with new Bugs.

very clear that dude has an anti Microsoft agenda... Anyone who doesn't like using a Microsoft account on their PC should probably hand in their phones and anything apple...
Some of what he says is valid, it is becoming more and more locked down but I suspect its more about preventing class action lawsuits than actively trying to piss people off. the argument about locking people in is meaningless these days, they all do it...
I do agree that enabling bitlocker should be optional unless you really need it though, it's just a pain in the proverbial otherwise...
The way I see it is M$ is trying to move over to a subscription model and push everyone into their ecosystem and get subscribed to 365, onedrive etc.
Windows is very close to becoming a free product and their business model will switch over to subscriptions, especially with AI, copilot, etc.

Very much the reason I'm averse to getting locked into software packages where possible. I own the 1,000+ music albums I have ripped from my CDs rather than using Spotify. I own my website rather than going to a Shopify SaaS model. I view whatever I can access from the internet for free rather than pay for streaming services. We generate our own electricity, which powers our 2 EVs and power tools, and grow our own meat and produce to a great degree. As much as possible we are self reliant and protected from factors that would threaten the resiliance we have put in place. Not completely 'preppers' but we can see what attracts them to that strategy and philosophy.
