You can never have enough...
And then of course you will find yours! Isn't that always the way?

I needed some black yarn yesterday, because I got it into my head to sew up the crochet squares rather than learn to crochet them together. I have decided to form a cushion cover from them and once the idea was there I had to do it immediately. I knew I had black in my tapestry wools, so pulled out the first box, and then the second before I found the blacks.

In the process though I had to confront the unmistakeable evidence of a past obsession. Not only are those two containers indecently large, and crammed full of a hoarders collection, but there is also a large bag of printed tapestry canvases acquired over the years.

They have to go. There are not enough years left for me to stitch all those things up...

Yes I will no doubt find the thermos.

I just called the oppy and the manager went and looked for me , they have one for $4 so not hugely expensive, so she put it behind the counter for me. Will pick it up on my way to see MrP.

Also just rang the home to find out what time the singers are on so Ill be going up after lunch and see those. It was the Manager who answered the phone and she proudly told me that MrP had enjoyed the cooked breakfast they put on.
They should do it every week, especially on Fish Bait Fridays as we all call it lol.. Then they would have full tummys and not have to even attempt to eat the crap fish and over peppered lemon pepper chips lol
Big Grin They told me I couldn't, so I did.!! Big Grin

Good morning boy we had some heavy rain during the night - haven’t ventured out to see if the creek is up
Great to hear you are having a great time Kiwimade - good thinking having your trip the first week of the holidays and are not back to school next week
Lilith the shopping trolley is a better height for me than a wheel barrow - actually just thinking about my wheelbarrow haven’t seen it for a while - who borrowed it can’t think
My brother has his last cancer treatment today - 7 of the people in his group have come down with covid this week but he has dodged it luckily
My Grandaughter is off next week to a Hockey tournament in Hamilton - gave her a talking to about wearing her mask but have a feeling it was going in one ear and out the other

Sunny this morning but its clouded over & got colder now - I've had more than enough of winter this year & would quite like summer back again, so I can moan about the heat for a change.

I had intended to mow that back lawn today but last night's rain put paid to that so did a bit more work on the two remaining paintings.
The DIL who is an ex & lives in Nelson sent me a message earlier; it was an image of a Lotus style incense burner. I sent back that it was gorgeous - whereupon she informed me that I'd given it to her back when she was 16-17 as a birthday gift, long before she was my DIL.
Life is strange sometimes - she must have been fated somehow to end up in the family.

A near neighbour blithely informed us over coffee that she has been looking after her grandson this week and he is now sick with what might be covid. You could see those sitting close to her start leaning away as she spoke...

I dunno. The message just isn't getting through to some of us. Fortunately I was on the other side of the table (decent size) and well back.

Hunni - did you hear the announcement yesterday about the anti viral drug being available to more oldies - Mz Verrall said it will cut hospital admissions by 90% - you have to get it through your GP within 6 hours of testing positive- it has only been available to 2% but now 12% of us are able to get it - I certainly will chase it - I could only have 2 vaccinations because I had a real bad reaction

When my daughter got covid, despite having had the extra booster long before we were offered it, it was the anti virals she had access to that kept her out of hospital. With MS apparently these viruses can be a real issue even for young people, so I was glad she was in Perth and covered by a more progressive health system.

Hunni - You can now evidently access it from the chemist they must have realised getting seen by a doctor within 6 hours was a long shot .Yes Oz have been using it for ages .Foodstuffs Warehouse have been storing 10 million rat tests for the ministry since January - they were supposed to get them distributed from there but Foodstuffs hadnt heard anything so contacted the ministry last week - they had forgotten they were there and had ordered more ! Whoever would have believed a couple of years ago the world would get turned upside down by a blardy virus .Enjoy every day I say

Morning all.

Nice and sunny but a bit brisk out there!

It's now getting harder and harder to avoid Covid it would seem, as more around us succumb, especially the 'older' folk. Booked in for the booster but that's no guarantee of being 'safe' with everyone reacting differently! DIL's mum has MS and was fine with it whereas her dad was really ill. Quite right Jan, enjoy every day!

No particular plan for the day ... still have family plus dog staying ... currently letting off steam at the beach.

Enjoy the day.

Yes Rose said she coped okay too but put that down to the antivirals. Lucky because she has liver damage from one of the MS treatments and is a double jeopardy case for additional stresses. Must be immensely frustrating for those who had bad experiences or lost family with covid to know the antivirals could have helped, but are only now being accessible. And for those in the system tasked with helping. No wonder burn out is so common.

Still, for those few of us still free of the virus it is good to know we can get better help now. I still don't want the damned thing whatever drugs are now out there. I am just an awful patient...

Looks like another clear day for us though, which is lovely. Had an interesting night, my ancient hotwater bottle developed a leak so that has to be sorted this morning. And when I opened the curtains the windows were streaming from top to bottom - the clear skies overnight made it a chilly one obviously. Oh well, good excuse to change all the bed linen a bit early in the routine! Fortunately, I have so many layers on my bed the beautiful new mattress is unscathed...

Morning everyone

The sun is out and I dont see any greenery moving.

Yes OHH my en-suite window was wet this morning. This house is pretty good for keeping dry. The window is open and I dont have to feel the chill unless Im in there.

Woke up at 5am, wanting to be sick, but hot and shaky. My sugar was low. I haven't restocked the jelly bean jar so I was sitting there having 3 squares of chocolate at 5am lol.

I have to admit I felt like a Martian when I was at the Home yesterday. All the inmates didn't have masks Just the staff and Me. The singers of course didn't either. but I sat us right at the back so we were behind all the breathing. It was pleasant. A friends mum is in there and compared to how I have seen her recently she came alive. Clapping her hands swaying with the music and singing.

Ill take anything I can get to stay covid free. Just hoping I wont have another reaction to the next booster, but at least Ill know what it is, if I do.

Going to do some housework on the computer this morning, then I plan on cutting up the pillow cases and a sheet for rags. Then I will overlock them. Sewing like Driving aggravates my knee but if I do a few at a time I will feel like I have achieved something.

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies Smile The kids have moved on to the other set of grand parents Big Grin while on their way home. We had a fun time at Kelly Tarltons Smile The penguins and turtles were favourites.

Beds are stripped and washing on the line to make the most of the fine day. Daughter has taken the last of her stuff Big Grin so that has freed up some space in the house. She left home over 10 years ago and at long last her stuff is gone lol. Who knew it took that long to 'officially' leave. And she took a few things I was going to donate to the op shop as well, so an extra bonus there.

Boy this house needs a DVS system. It really showed with so many extra people in the house over the last few days. We had one in our previous home and it paid dividends. So that will be the next thing to be done to the house. And that will leave the biggest things to do to last, the kitchen and bathroom.

So many people aren't wearing masks, it's insane. Why wouldn't you? If not for yourself, then for others. I see it as a very selfish thing. We're both booked in for our second booster next month. Had to wait a bit for MrK's six months to be up and then we can have it done together.

Lawn needs mowing and I suspect I will be mowing it wet. And I need a couple of really fine days to prune the roses. I don't like pruning when it's wet as the fresh cuts take in bugs and then heal over and my rose is then stuffed as I don't spray. They will need a good feed of espsom salts and pot ash too.

Might get back to my butterfly today, will see how things go.

A crisp start here too. Lovely to see blue sky and the sun Cool

Got some fruit mince tarts in oven who says they are only for xnas Tongue

Good morning just - crisp breeze here after a good frost but the suns shining and the sky is blue
I was just thinking I really miss getting a hug - Robie just left after dropping off some stuff and as he left I would have loved a hug - my kids are both huggers - but not worth the risk - had a chuckle just as well he can put an extra row of seats up in his SUV his kids and the 3 Ukrainian kids were off to cook sausages at a fund raiser at the local food rescue
Your house will seem empty Kiwimade but the kids will have heaps in their memory banks from the exciting week you have had with them
The mask thing is such a problem - everyday there is trouble at the supermarket even though there are free masks at the door
Your leaky water bottle Hunni reminded me of the old days of the water bed leaking in the middle of the night - those were the days !
Mica Eskdale Yarns are very near me - she has done so well with her little business - has lovely wool and holds classes which are very popular -
Going to have to close all my windows the neighbours have lit their fire and the smoke is enveloping m6 house - if I had a trout I could smoke it - actually I might ask if their fire is compliant they have only just started lighting it - off to do that need my inhaler first -

I have date scones in the oven...

And washing in the dryer. Not bad for a Saturday. And the sunny patches are on the topper pad now so it will dry out nicely. Come a nice Spring day it can go through the laundry, or maybe I shall treat myself to a new one. It has done well so it wouldn't be a gross extravagance!

Have since found that DIL's mum got onto antivirals early as well. Good to know there's now help for those who need it.

Finished the last two small paintings & also the photoshop one so a bit of progress.
Went around to check whether or not they'd got Madame le Dog's biscuits in yet, but no - so I suppose by the time they do get them in, they'll no longer be on special, dammit.
Really cold out there, despite the sun so will probably need to bring in washing before it starts getting colder - my, what an exciting life! Smile

morning ladies Smile Fog, fog, and more fog this morning.

lol Lilith, your exciting life sounds very similar to ours. It's very quiet in the house without the grandkids this morning. The Furry One was sulking after they left as they didn't need any encouragement to play with him.

This morning I need to mow the lawn even if it is soaking wet and I have to stop all the time to clear the blade. I don't think the lawn is going to get any drier so might as well do it this morning. We're having a memorial lunch today to celebrate the life of MrK's niece who was killed in a car accident 20 years ago. I don't know if you remember the road safety adverts from years back where ordinary people were doing ordinary things and a person would be faded out of the picture. She was one of those people in the advert. Heart

Yesterday the Furry One cut his paw on a bone he was chewing and left a trail of bloody paw prints on the carpet. We think he was holding it between his paws while eating. He's fine but our after hours vet is in Tauranga and that's 40 odd minutes away so we were relieved we didn't need to dash over the hill.

No embroidery for me yesterday and unlikely to do any today.
