You can never have enough...
Freezing here, only 6 earlier & now looks ready to rain at any minute. It rained last night & couldn't get front lawn done so made a couple of small quiches & some corn fritters instead so have at least achieved something today.

Shopping is soo expensive lol.. but the good news is, I saved $2 on some jammie pants so pretty much got a bottle of milk for $1.

Spoilt Madam Cat, well its still in the shopping bag so she will be spoilt later. We are currently keeping each other warm.

IM starting to be "over" winter, which has Never Happened before. Its my fave season. But Man Im cold. And stupid clothes I got last year are too big this year.

My good deed for the day was telling a mature women she had left her bag hanging in the changing rooms. She called herself a horrible name and I said Noo we just have moments when our brains are focused elsewhere. Thankfully everything was in it.

Blood and bone attracts dogs, milk powder attracts cats.

You are supposed to dig it in. Mind you, I have found a hidden benefit to dropping stinky sheep and chook poo pellets across my garden. The cats hate it. The seedlings remain unexcavated...

Sweetcorn fritters... Now I have a yen for some. Too bad, I have a huge pot of mussel chowder in the fridge, which will be dinner for the next couple of days.

Lol, I cheated and filled a pot with the last of the chowder and popped it in the freezer. Sweetcorn fritters tomorrow night. With bacon!

I dug around in my pantry hopefully looking for a can of corn but no such luck so had to settle for corn and bacon soup - wasn’t a great compromise
I was out in the backyard today saw one my new refugee neighbours out on the back deck having a cigarette so went to the fence to introduce myself - it was like talking to Prince William - he is a middle eastern refugee so that was a surprise when he started talking - he went to uni in the UK - the brother called out so he scuttled inside don’t think I will have them over for coffee
I see we are in for rain tomorrow and strong winds - at least we have had a couple of nice days my veggie pods are going well - the broad beans are covered in flowers .My inside tomatoes are going really well - this is two weeks growth - I lifted the lights to take the photo

morning ladies Smile Wow, we had some rain last night!

I love the idea of growing the tomatoes inside, Jan. We grew a tomato plant in our sunny porch a few winters ago and that worked too.

Yummmm corn fritters, I love them with chilli tomato sauce.

MrK has a very sore throat today. I suspected he was getting sick yesterday when we were in Rotorua. It was freezing there.

Housework to catch up with today, not that there is much. I'll duck into town shortly to buy some throat lozenges for MrK and return some library books.

Happy crafting Smile

My broadbean seedlings are a little challenged by the uninvited cosmos seedlings that have popped up with them, flowers are a good way off. Mind you, I am treating them rough, they are outside in the weather and have had close encounters of the munching kind with the local slime brigade, so it is not unexpected. Given a vaguely clear day and they will be popped into a pot to do their thing - should be an interesting display, those cosmos parents were outrageously tall.

I am tempted by the thought of an indoor tomato though. I have seeds...

Morning all
Overcast at the moment I tempted the rain gods last night when I commented to DH that we hadn't had rain gir a while.  Heavy rain forecast for this morning.

Got Ispy quilt sandwiched yesterday so it is all pinned and ready for quilting just got to decide what swirls and twirls I will use.

We met up with friends last night and had a lovely meal and scintillating  conversation Big Grin

So off to the sewing cave soon to set up my sewing table for quilting

Enjoy your day

Morning all.

Wet and chilly here.. A rough start to my sleep but after 12-30ish I slept soundly enough.

I saw an advert this morning for Indoor vege pods.. I could be very tempted. To have lettuce and more chives on hand would be wonderful. But kind of hoping that once my knee is done it wont be such hard work to go down the stairs out to the chives now. They are dying down for winter tho.

I forgot my pills yesterday so Ill be popping up to get them, drop a few things off for MrP and I might do the oppies. Depends on the weather tho.

Need to tidy the drop zones later, the couch and breakfast bar lol.

And I have to shorten the jammie pants.. I never looked at the length and they are long. So Ill do those later too. ''

Have a fab day everyone.... corn fritters for me tonight. On the rocks no sauces, I do have bacon but Ive never had both together lol...

Oh you have to try it, and do the sweet'n sour thing with sauces too, to completely corrupt your taste buds!! Fair play, after all I am now going to yearn for an indoor vege pod because you mentioned it...

MrK has made some rhubarb, pineapple and raspberry jelly jam and omg it's so good! He found the recipe in an old pickling and jam book I bought years and years ago.

There are several varieties of small tomato plants that are heavy croppers especially for growing in pots - I bought the seeds off Trademe 3 seeds for 99c - they self pollinate so you don’t have to have bees
Love the sound of your jelly Kiwimade - I swapped some bok choy during the week for some lemon marmalade - I can taste a hint of ginger - it’s lovely
Awful day here today - freezing gale force winds -terrible for the families living out in caravans in the Esk Valley

Yumm that sounds delicious KM.. Enjoy.

Cant do sauces Hunni I dont have any lol.

$400 for a indoor pod. Ouchies.. Maybe later...

Ive changed my mind re tea, the potatoes are growing so need to be used first. A potato bake with bacon in it will use several.

But the good thing is the Corn will wait happily in the cupboard.

Had a nice time out at the recycle center and Oppie. The St Johns one was Shut Yet again. They always seem to have trouble getting and keeping staff.

Got a new lamp for the lounge. I didn't read the testing tag, as it was wound and then wrapped in a rubber band. Its a touch lamp. And Yes Madam already knows how to turn it on. Its for the lounge, so Ill just hope she wont turn it off at night. It has a pretty flower type shade of frosted glass.

And got some lovely white napkins, as it was a box of mixed sizes I'm going to guess they have been made out of a rather good quality table cloth fabric. I got them for 50 cents each and Ill use them for the backings of the cushion covers.

Couch tidied, clothes washed and on the airer, clothes to put away later or tomorrow..

Drizzling all day here & the same again tomorrow. Was thinking the other day that I really must get one or two things done once it clears up, I have to mow those sheets.

Really?? MOW the sheets??! Probably best to mow the front lawn & wash the sheets...Smile

Well, I blobbed out and decided to watch Jamie Oliver... End result, I made one of his vegetarian pasta dishes (or an approximation) and boy it was yum. So sweetcorn fritters tomorrow...

I am glad I don't need to mow lawns any more.

Sooo if it doesnt rain it POURS.

Ive done my Planter fasciitis, how ever you spell it. In the arch of my right foot. Had to be the right one of course.

But I managed to hobble around and cook tea.

Only thing I havent done today was hang my clothes up. And yes I was headed into the wardrobe. Just like MP's hurts him, when I hurt my foot.

Need some real shoes.. Havent worn anything buy crocs apart from two days in the last easily 15 plus years.

Wow the baking is amazing tonight if not odd lol

morning ladies Smile If it's not rain, then it's fog.

The monarch chrysalis that has been on the swan plant since the beginning of May is starting to change into a butterfly. You can clearly see the wings now. I thought we had lost it thanks to all the rain and frosts. Fingers crossed it survives; it's certainly fought hard enough too.

MrK is still coughing and spluttering. It's been years since he was sick.

Today I'll have a quick tidy up of some rose pruning's I missed binning, and the cabbage tree has dropped a heap of leaves as well. It won't take long to do and regardless of the weather, will be good to be outside. I am so glad I pruned last month and didn't leave the roses until July like I usually do.

A vegie bake sounds pretty good and a great way to use up those smaller bits of vegies.

Popeye, I had to bite the bullet and buy proper walking shoes when my back started hurting. They cost a fair bit but it's worth every cent as it helps with straightening my posture as I walk. I save during the year and go to the sales when they are on. I wear them until they are so worn out lol.

I finally have some thread to redo the placemats my mother-in-law embroidered 30-odd years ago and I backed a couple of years ago. My original idea didn't work very well so I've unpicked my work and am redoing them.

One of ours hatched a few days ago and I watched it drying its wings for a few minutes before heading indoors. When I checked later the wings were on the ground, the local flutterfly murdering moggie had got it.

If she wasn't such a lovely creature I'd've had words...

Wet with heavy rain warning for later today
Gosh you are in the wars Popeye.
Feeding DS cats while they are away for few days have to have a reminder in my phone so I don't forget

Finished quiltingnthe ISpy quilt so will sort out a binding today. My machine came up with a couple of nonsense errors yesterday Shy On research it would suggest that one of the 3 circuit board is on the way out Sad  switching SM on and off sorted the problem. Now the decision will be repair or replace the particular circuit board is the expensive one at least 900 ++dollars. Will have to talk to the SM tech for his expert opinion. Luckily the fabric trip I am going on next month will be visiting a SM supplier who stocks all the brands except Bernina which suits me as I am not a bernina girl Big Grin so I will be able to touch a few that I have in mind so if it comes to it I have done my homework. New machines are not cheap.

Enjo your day
