You can never have enough...

Fixed by the tech to make solid and safe but needs a replacement part to be good as new. $165 which I think is pretty good value considering call out , travel and at least an hour in the process.

So now I am mobile again, woo hoo!
Good that you are mobile again OHH. I have a real appreciation of scooters having known the difference it made to FIL's life. He was lucky to have my DH to help keep it running (as well as the techies)  Smile

Beautiful afternoon - have decided not to unpick - my original hook was 5.25 but I picked up a 5.50 as it’s not a full sized jump when I measure it with the tape it’s minuscule - but it’s really going against the grain as I am a serial unpicker.I don’t think I would have enough red to start again with the bow tie section as what I have used is all little bits .I am going to back it so will be able to make the adjustment.Had a brain wave about the backing was going to crochet a fine backing but thought I might buy some merino fabric I am sure I have seen it somewhere
Kiwimaide can definitely recommend the Veggie pod - Mr K could make his own stand - saw some photos of a stand made out of pallets- the young Mum bought a bigger pod and made the stand - love seeing recycling
My refugee neighbour frightened the living daylights out of me this morning - pegging the washing up having a chat to a fan tail that was darting about turned around and he was standing right there - I couldn’t step back - the cheeky sod wanted me to take his gold American Express up to the bottle store and get him some booze - he has been trespassed - told him I was too busy he went off muttering about living in a shxxhole .Taxi arrived half hour later .There are plenty of bottle stores several within walking distance he can’t be trespassed from all of them .Uber eats are in and out could get them to deliver booze
He speaks beautifully would be great doing talking books

Gold Amex? Really? Oh well, maybe he's a refugee for reasons that are not immediately obvious - sez she, engaging 'Be Kind' mode...

As for the scoot, it appears the wear and tear resulting from appallingly maintain footpaths is the cause of dodgy wiring breaks and loose connections. It might pay to double check that red machine - from the look of the bit removed, flames and smoke from under the seat (hot pants anyone?) might be less noticeable against bright red paint work...

Good news re the scoot then, that'll make a difference. Smile
Madame Le Dog & I met a woman on one earlier when we were out for our walk. She's usually wary of things like that but she behaved beautifully this time, probably because the woman stopped & made a bit of a fuss of her.

Almost warm out so once I'd got the shopping done went out & did a bit of this & that till I ran out of energy.

I stopped and made a fuss of a wee fluffy thing on my scoot today, it was quite eager to hop on and come for a ride. But the best fun today was the roadworks completely cutting off my usual access to Devonport. A few words with a huge gentleman in a hi vis jacket stopped all traffic and I took to the road while all those big vehicles sat and waited. Coming back I was allowed onto the newly finished pathway and notice the camber has been fixed - the one that I avoided for years because it was simply too precipisy (technical term) for the low wheelbase high seat of my machine. I shall enjoy using that route in future, instead of fearing it when forced to go that way.

Sometimes road works are to be celebrated!

Good Morning everyone.

Fine thus far, the temp has dropped again tho.

Off to do my bloods and visit MrP this morning, he's been rather challenging for the last week so hopefully he is in a better mood today.

Sad that Victoria has had to say no to the Comm Games. I hope someone can pick it up. Or even if someone loaned them the money and they paid it back after the event.

I have to say Im already sick of hearing about the Soccer world cup. Its totally a game I hate.. Hoping it will grow on me tho. And maybe by the end I will know some names lol.

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies Smile the fog is just getting thicker and thicker... I could see across the road earlier.

Good to hear the scoot has been repaired. Maybe send the bill to the council seeing as the damage was done through lack of maintenance of the footpaths. I'm sure Mr Brown will make sure it's paid Tongue Tongue

Your refugee neighbours could be political refugees, Jan. It sounds like they are finding it hard to settle here.

I'm not sure what we have planned for today, probably nothing much. In which case I'll plod on with the hand quilting. The sooner the placemats are done, the sooner I can get back to the thrush.

Happy crafting Smile

Council footpaths were the direct cause of my scoot going vertical. That frayed (or flayed, or both) the canopy as the back of the scoot became the bottom. The council utterly failed to make any allowance for the effects of a kerb crossing that was already steep then having a deep slot created at the bottom following road resealing over the years. They could at least put some soft padding in the landing area, apparently pedestrians and push chairs get re-aligned there now and again too.

I think Victoria should phone the King. After all, it is his Commonwealth now, let him host it. Or pay for it. Being one of the laziest people on the planet I think all sports should be self funded and preferably carried out safely and quietly somewhere else, but I am one of those Scroogey types when it comes to Games of all kinds.

That Premier though has some guts to call it off, many before him have been too cowardly to do so and left the host communities in a hell of a hole, financially, socially, and environmentally. I wonder if commonsense will catch on politically?

Fat chance...

Tend to agree OHH - in this day I can’t really see how billions spent on sporting events can be justified. They were going to build pools etc just for the games and then demolish them   Undecided

Surely there’s  plenty of  world cups etc these days to keep sport addicts happy.

omg yes, this sport nut can't wait for the Rugby World Cup or the women's FIFA world cup on Thursday. But I completely agree about the extravagance of building new stadiums and swimming pools etc for future games. Yes, build them if they will be used again after the competition but not exclusively for the one sport. Build the stadiums to host several varieties of sports and activities. In the States they have different floors that can be rolled out for the different sport. I think we need to be looking at this type of thing. But as for demolishing after the competition, what a waste of money, time and effort. And that's without thinking of the climate change stuff it affects. And you can bet your bottom dollar that people have been moved on to build them in the first place.

Our community is going halves with the Education Dept for a new stadium at our local collage. The deal is the community will use it after school hours, so it's more a community stadium. It makes sense to do this as multiple groups will book and use it rather than having different buildings scattered around town that will all need to be maintained and empty most of the time. One building used constantly has to be a better option.

I have to agree. I do like the games, but the cost is rediculous.

Yes I will give the Premier a tick for calling it off.

The same was going to happen at the school we lived across the road from. They were going to build a heated indoor pool. And in the end the council withdrew their help. Our town has a crappy outdoor pool. A heated indoor would have been used by all. so it has never happened and we still have the one crappy outdoor one. While Pukekohe has had a second one built over there.

MrP got stroppy, moaning about being there and wanting to come home. So I informed him I wasn't looing after him thus hurting myself in the process, Threw his Fist, so I told him he is there. And that I had had to turn down a house cos he has to sign us out of this house, He said I wont sign it.. I said do you think I dont know that? that's why I turned it down without telling him about it. So he will be sulking. But I've warned the staff. They know how to deal with him.
So Ill have a few extra days off now. Until he settles down again.. Cos Ive always known he wont sign the paper to get me out of here.

And if he pushes it Ill tell him when he can pay his half of the last 2 plus years then he can come home.

Popeye 2 can play that game ... no visits, no treats unless he does the right thing and signs the agreement!

Always interesting to hear what's happening in the town we knew for over 30 years KM. The community/college stadium is a brilliant move.

My 3 played 'soccer' throughout their schooling.  Shall follow the FIFA Games if and when they are on TV.

No to massive amounts being spent on Sports events if they are only a oncer!

Gorgeous day here ... about to give the canine a trim in the sun now she's dry after a wash.

Enjoy the rest of the day.

Exactly Roma.

He knows I dont reward bad behavior. And its his moods that causes the lack of visits.

I just cant believe after all this time 27 months that he thought he would be coming home.

He would probably be stupid enough to want me to help him get a divorce lol.

Hope those footpaths are soon sorted out properly & suitable for the scoot Hunni.

Good luck with Mr P's moods, Popeye.
I can't say I blame Victoria for pulling the plug; while its disappointing for fans & those taking part, its likely to be hugely expensive. If there was likely to be some long term benefit for Victoria it would have made more sense.

Apparently its 17 here today & did a bit in the garden & got some washing done earlier but cooling down now.

I just rang the home and managed to get the Boss.

I told her about his usual behaviour, and symptoms. the Dr will be there tomorrow. I told her I had spoken to a nurse on Monday while the Dr was there, but the DR never saw him.

He will settle down again when he has some extra antibiotics. Its all there. The holding of water, the blisters on his legs and his disgusting behaviour..  Ive seen it soo many times, and its always his most loved one he takes it out on. lol.

Oddly Im not annoyed, or upset. this is his norm and sadly a good way to know that things are there.  A weaker person would crumble... Im not as weak now as I was  years ago lol

Then that's progress Popeye; you've learnt more about his health & can understand why he gets into a particular frame of mind, & because you know the cause, it doesn't upset you.
So well done you.  Smile
