You can never have enough...
When I was about 8 or 10 my Dad bought his first motor mower - we were all standing around watching him attack a very unruly backyard it got stuck on a big clump of fescue - instinct snapped into action and he stuck his hand in - I can still see the finger that was chopped off completely flying through the air - he played the bagpipes so was devastated but luck was on his side that day and he had enough stump to keep playing

OMG Jan, what a life lesson to learn on where not to put your hand! But I think many a person has learned that the hard way.

Good luck with the trimmer KM, it sounds just the thing.

3g no. 5 (Gorgeous Great Grandchild) still gorgeous in photos sent by his adoring parents this morning. Smile

Did a little bit outside & moved a rose plant from a too small pot into a bucket, hope it survives OK but it should with luck. Did a bit more on the boots, getting close to finisuing them but will need a bit of tidying around some edges. Not great but sort of OK.
They did give me an idea however - I'd like to get a cheap pair of second hand black boots & put designs on them in silver pen, similar to henna painting. Somthing to think about for the future when I've got the time.

Wow you have done well Kiwimade. My parents had a tellus. They just keep going eh, but I hate them. I dont like the hot air flying at you.

OMG Jan I bet your dad was far more careful after that. I still have MrPs toe. I decided Ill keep it until he is gone incase he, for some odd reason says that he wants to see it lol.

Sounds funny now, but when my father died the guys from work asked my mother if there was anything we needed. Mum must have said a lawnmower. We got home from school one day to find a brand new gold massport mower on the back step. Sadly at 9 we thought it was a good swap, in an immature line of thinking lol.

I think I was very lucky that my Stepfather always showed us how to be careful. Plus Ive always had a more careful outlook on life. I dont rush into things. Same with when he taught me how to drive. there was no way I was allowed behind the wheel until I could check the oil and water. And change a wheel.
And when I brought my first sewing machine he brought me expensive scissors, cos he said blunt ones are more dangerous.

MrP was in an ok frame on mind. Mentioned something about when he came home. I just ignored it.

Home for the whole weekend now yay.

morning ladies Smile We have rain!

omggg Jan, I have visions of that finger going flying!

We had a call from our daughter yesterday and the other grandparents are sick so we are having both grandkids for a week Big Grin This should be fun lol. I'm thinking of some fun outside stuff to do that's inexpensive and tucker out two busy kids. We have a climbing wall that sounds like fun, the Hamilton Gardens have a playground and there is an art gallery in Tauranga that has interactive stuff they may like to try out. We'll see how we go Heart

I have the birthday girl's cake to bake this morning, fingers crossed it works out ok. I've made it before for MrK's birthday. Can't believe our granddaughter is turning 10, it doesn't seem that long ago our daughter was telling us she was pregnant.

Happy crafting Smile

Good morning.

Overcast and there have been a few showers. The garden will be happy, if not holiday makers!

Happy days KM. We will have most of ours close by over the hols ... our house being the "meet up" place.

Some jobs to do out and about and then visitors for the day. It will probably be an inside kind of day.

Enjoy the day all.

Chocolate birthday cake is baking and looks pretty darned good if I do say so myself Tongue

My vacum cleaner arrived lol. Yesterday after doing a click and collect, the lovely lady from Harvey Norman phoned and said it is being sent over from Mt Maunganui for me to pick up at their Hamilton store. Fantastic, I said. Hung up and MrK said wish they could just drop it off, they have to go right by us, don't even have to leave the main road. I said oh well, we're in Hamilton enough to pick it up, no biggie. A few minutes later, the lady phoned back. I see you live on the road our courier will be passing. Would you like us to drop it off lol. OMG, yes please! And it was delivered, free of charge, to our door this morning Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin It's charging and I can't wait to use it. How cool was that. Big Grin

The bottle arrived, thank you, popeye Smile It will be well loved. Heart

That's good service KM, you couldn't do better! Smile

Cold & raining a bit here, snow down south said to be coming our way later, so glad I didn't give in to the temptation to plant anything early apart from runner beans which have yet to come up.

Second day off sick, thinking it is a virus and hoping it isn't THAT one, lol. Doing a lot of sleeping and a lot of swearing quietly at myself as I run out of energy way sooner than usual. Had a shower this morning and had to sit down to do the drying bit, this getting old is a pain some days.

Still, it does mean I have a good excuse not to do housework!

Are you using acrylic or a natural fibre? And if so there maybe chemical traces, different kinds on each...

Acrylic Hunni... Very seldom I use pure wool or natural fibres. But they dont touch my front forearms when I work.

Its been ok for the last nearly 2 weeks but cos Ive done 3 covers today it has flared up.

Morning everyone

Wet here, it got quite heavy later in the afternoon yesterday.

Cant believe the temp drop tho. I put the wool blankets away in the morning but got one back out last night.

I didn't crochet last night. Smothered calamine lotion on the itchy arms. Ill slow down a little and knit a bit more and see if I can hold it back a bit. Last time it happened was when I did the blanket for MrP.

He wasn't flash yesterday. And was asleep last night so I left him to sleep.

Another quiet day for me and My girl today. Although she has been scaring the birds from the feeder on the door. The rat bag.

Have a fab day everyone

I am glad I kept a pair of heavy trackpants and one of the sweaters out, they went on this morning. This time of year can be unpredictable. Won't stop me starting off seeds though, despite my terrible record with germination rates!

The elderberry cuttings perked up nicely in their pots, they don't mind a bit of chilling. Now if they can just grow a nice set of roots I will be very happy.

And, great excitement - last summer I treated myself to a hydrangea head at the local fruit shop, $10, which was a gross extravagance, but it had a long stem, so of course I cut it and made cuttings, one of which has survived the winter and now has a healthy cluster of new leaves. I will now start hardening it off before fining it a really pretty pot. It is a gorgeous bicolour pink and white, really delicious flower, so I am looking forward to spoiling it silly until it is a bulletproof size...

morning ladies Smile It's a wild, wet morning here so far Smile

I hope you are feeling better today, OHH Smile Hydrangeas are so expensive! I saw a small one at the Warehouse for $25! And those pink and white ones are very pretty.

We spent the day driving to and fro Whanganui yesterday, thank goodness for daylight saving. Both grandkids are here for the week Big Grin Big Grin and the Furry One is verrry happy to see them lol.

Time to organise breakfast Big Grin I've had a request for eggs on toast. I think I can manage that lol.

Happy crafting Smile
