Lucky the wandering parcel turned up before the weekend.
Mowed back lawn - I swear it grows at twice the rate in springtime. That, or someone senaks in every night & waters the wretched thing.

And after the last couple of weeks of MrP not having a phone, he has it and is asleep lol.
I asked if anyone else had noticed his grumpiness, and yes they have.. Yay so its not just me.
I swear when I meet his mother Im going to ask if he was born grumpy lol.

morning ladies We had the country's high over the last couple of days MrK checked the thermometer in the dining room and we hit 26
I started mowing the lawn yesterday afternoon after taking our friend to his appointment. But it was so hot, I gave up halfway through and will finish it shortly. MrK has finished emptying the compost bin and I have strict instructions lol of which bin to use. The compost is lovely and rich and I can't wait to get it onto the garden. Dublin Bay is flowering and Ingrid Bergman is hot on its heels. It seems the red roses are the first to flower this time
Housework for me also this morning, at some stage I need to clean the outside windows. Spiders are making themselves at home there.
Time to get cracking, there's a bit to do today
happy crafting

Morning everyone
Very dull here, fingers crossed it rains and leaves me with a fine weekend to get the rest of the lawn done and spray the edges. Apart from the driveway and about 3 meters the whole section is fenced by 6 foot tall wooden fences. Spraying is the easiest way to keep things looking good.
Popping in to see Mr. Grumpy , on my way to see the girls.. Hopefully it wont be soo late today. Music is on so Bobbie will go to that. And Ill use the other way to get out without her trying to take me in for the Music. The guy that is on today uses recorded singing and computers, but he is 1 of the trio that used to sing and has a very limited number of songs. So it gets a tad bit boring for me.
Petrol is 12 cents off till 7 am tomorrow at gull if anyone needs it.
Absolutely skint this week.. but oddly it makes me think more and plan more meal wise and I have more than enough things to keep me happy at home.
Helped a friend meal plan yesterday. Moaning cos she only had $310 to cover food for 3 adults, gas and Personal money.. I told her off and then helped her plan some meals that she was interested in. She said they had food in the house but "Nothing" she wanted.. and she wanted at least 1 meat free meal. I said meat free meals shouldn't be frowned upon and I gave her plenty of ideas. She can still have her take aways but to make them herself, well lets face it her Hubby and son will make them.
I said she doesn't need to buy anything but food and gas, its only a week... Total opposite of me for sure lol
Have a fab day everyone

$310 for three adults and petrol won't go far even with the most careful planning. Especially if your friend has to use the car daily.

This week is easier as Hubby works shift work and finishes this afternoon and doesnt go back till late Monday, so it shouldnt be too hard.. Simply stay home for the weekend.

I budget tightly, but always get to the end of the pay period with a very tiny bit left in the account. I swear expenses grow to meet income no matter how hard I try these days. Of course I could sacrifice all the frittery stuff and would if the incentive - or need was there, but I am enjoying life and apart from me'n her there is no need. I think I am very blessed seeing I never go without.
One of the benefits of being old?

Yep, we stay home if the budget doesn't allow us to be out and about. Just as well we also have plenty to do at home and just love being home.
I've just checked my kiwibank account and found a nice tidy sum was deposited the other day by Kiwibank. I check our accounts often even if not being used and was able to stop our accounts being emptied by a hacker because it a couple of years ago. I phoned Kiwibank thinking it was a scam but no, they had overcharged us fees years ago and were repaying the $$. They have a team that goes back over old closed accounts to check and this account had been closed for years. What a lovely surprise before a long weekend.

Yes, they got smacked for just that recently by the banking ombudsman. I'm pleased you got it back KM!

Good morning all.
Overcast but VERY warm.
Just back from the s/market wondering how so many $$ needed for so little in the trolley! I did buy a luxury item (on special) I spied for the long weekend though ... 6 pack of mini icecreams We are thankful for super ... if that's compensation for being old, lol!
A nice surprise indeed KM ... must be a very rare occurrence to get $$ back!
Soon going to join niece and baby for a baby music/movement session at the library I go to. Popeye, music is good therapy and enjoyable at both ends of our lives
No plan this weekend ... just take it as it comes.

The thing is, OHH, we didn't even know we were overcharged. How many millions of $$$ have banks raked in because of this? Still, we are grateful for its return, that's for sure. We also get by on super, no or very few frills. This year has been a budget nightmare with having to replace a lot of household items. It's going to take a while to financially recover but as I see it, the bills are paid and there is food on the table. We are luckier than a lot of people.

Yup, some sharp eyed customer caught them out and complained to the ombudsman. Now they are going through all accounts. That'll learn 'em!
It would be a horrible job too! So dull...

Well if the bank has overcharged, they have a moral duty to repay people surely.
Finally made it to Spotlight & found the coffee maker I needed to replace mine which has developed a dodgy handle which falls off every so often & which then has to be glued back on, so a bit hazardous & pleased to have it sorted finally. Also got a few tea towels while I was about it & had a swift look around the south city mall, quite a lot of empty shops in there now since the supermarket moved & the warehouse went.

I think her trouble is, she is not used to not being able to afford to do what she wants.
Totally different in the way that She loves to be out of the home, Im happy to be home.. And Im most happy if Im only out twice a week. So this week has been hard. But it will get back to normal.
I too am very glad for the benefit I receive. Money seems to come to me at the right time these days which Im ok with.
I might only have $1-72 to my name BUT, I dont need anything, I could live quite well for weeks out of the freezer etc, I have plenty of stuff to keep me occupied. But for her that scares her.
The First home has Covid AGAIN.. 8 cases and poor Bobbie is locked in again.. Both Young and Old Peter have it. I fear that I wont see Old Peter again. He's been on Oxygen all the time I have known him. He was calling out. I stood outside and talked to Bobbie through the window, she wont unlock the door, she feels safe with it locked. I got sunburnt.
MrP was happy once he ate some cheese. They said I could take some in and put it in their patient fridge. But I wont do that. Soo many things walk. So Ill take some up each time I see him.
There were a few spits of rain as I came in, so no lawns or spraying tonight.
They told me I couldn't, so I did.!!
