You can never have enough...
I take Lorafix for rosacea, luckily a friend also has it & told me about Lorafix so mentioned it to my Dr who hadn't known that it could be used for that. It's surprising that its not very well known, because its apparently very common but not everyone knows about the Lorafix treatment for it, & works really well.

It got to 30 here yesterday & must be close to that again so not working in the garden. Managed to get the last illustration finished & sent them off; if I'm lucky they may take one for the diary, & if I'm really lucky, they might take one for the calendar which pays slightly more & is most of a set of books for the great grandkids, which is always nice.

Last library visit, I got one very large (600 odd pages) & one not so large book because I was sure that none of the reserves would be close to arriving yet...so obviously Murphy's law kicked in & one turned up two days later. And its enormous - I had no idea...800 odd pages!

I really enjoyed The Last Samurai. It occurs to me if we could just make if illegal to wage war and fight battles with mechanised weaponry, we might have fewer of the damned things in the first place.

morning ladies Smile It's a foggy start to the day, kinda expected the fog after a very hot day and cool(ish) night.

I'm not a Tom Cruise fan but I like the idea of sword fighting. Get up close and personal with your opponent and let's see how well you do.

Once this coffee is finished the plan is to dead head the daisies and dahlias before the day becomes too hot. And I see Albertine is sneaking over to our neighbour, so she will have a trim back too.

MrK has just picked some tomotoes. It's the first time he has grown 'Dynamo' and he's very happy with them. Nice size and delicious. The courgettes are going crazy and he reckons you can sit and watch the cucumber grow lol.

Yesterday my surf caster and one of MrK's tackle boxes went to new homes and the $$$ into our pockets. I'll list the boat rods next week. The guy who bought my rod wants first dibs on them, so I'll send him pics and we'll see what happens with that.

It's the last day for the Karapiro bit of SH1 to be closed and the detour to be used. A lot of travelers will heave a sigh of relief.

Happy crafting Smile

Morning everyone

Nice and cool at the mo. Have the ranch slider open and not a breath of wind,,, yet.

Spoke to MrP last night. he was very tired. But ok. Dr didn't turn up.

Dishes and floors today. Then the weekend is mine.

Its good when a buyer wants dibs on more of your gear. Hope it goes well for you Kiwimade.

Yep sword fighting would be a good idea. With no medical help for anyone. And only between the people who want the war, innocent public wouldn't need to become involved then too.

I crashed before the cricket finished so will wander off and see who won.

Have a fab day everyone

Good morning.

Very hot already ... expecting 27 degrees again. Lucky I can open doors and generally get a breeze from some direction.

KM I'll have to follow that FB page and keep up with what is happening on those SH's. I heard yesterday someone had taken an hour to get through Taotaoroa Road ... a nightmare!

Something to look forward to Mica ... I'm trying to encourage DH to do something similar for a break ... big 70 birthday in the middle of the year. All dependent on his back surgery recovery of course but could be just the incentive!

Family are bringing around afternoon tea later, have given the pooch and hung out several washing loads. Won't be moving much in this heat.

Enjoy the day all.

Its supposed to get to 31 here today; I suspect its hotter than that now. Watering the garden later is going to take ages.

We've hit the predicted 28 but omggg it's super hot out there. I swear it's more than 28. Might take the thermometer outside and see.

Just had a lovely meal thanks to you Popeye - old boy down the street had a couple of falls - the men’s club built a ramp up his back steps - he came down to see me about my st Johns alarm - had remembered you saying Popeye you can claim from Winz so told him that - St Johns installed his alarm but gave him the old application form to get completed by his GP - he paid her $26 and sent the form off with the St Johns contract - Winz sent the form back told him to go back to GP and get the correct one signed - took 12 days to get second appointment GP checked the two forms - she had kept a copy and only the heading was different- practice nurse contacted Winz he is 93 and after much to-ing and fro-ing they accepted the old form .Two weeks later another letter from Winz they did not have a copy of his contract and he would need to scan it or take it into Winz - he thought I would have a scanner - took a photo and sent it off in jpeg form - back it comes it has to be PDF or he has to take it in - Winz could easily have converted it to PDF took me a minute - I don’t understand it have they got nothing to do .Anyway if you are still reading Popeye his daughter invited me and the blokes who built the ramp for a meal - we had scotch eggs which I love and deep fried haggis balls - don’t think I would order them at a restaurant! But thanks for passing the info on - he is desperate to stay in his own home

Winz do things in strange ways. Half our lot are still getting paid for the $5 script cost that disappeared months ago. I redid mine because I didn't want to get told to repay the overpayment, and they rejected my new form because it had B12 oral drops on it, and they don't cover 'supplements'. Even if they are essential for anaemia, lol, so back to the GP I went and she sorted them out.

Frustrating, but laughing is the only way to react, getting cross achieves nothing.

morning ladies Smile Another hot day today by the looks of it. MrK has already watered the vegie garden. A magpie woke us both this morning when it flew into the window with a huge bang. Not the best way to be woken lol. It was a bit dazed but is fine.

I must check MrK's super payment and check they have taken the $5 prescription fee out. Never even gave that a thought so thanks for the heads up, OHH. WINZ can be frustrating to deal with, but the Super people are better by far than dealing with the others who deal with the rest of the benefits. They can be a tad condescending though.

MrK received his appointment to see the eye specialist and it's just before he has his melanoma removed. So good they can juggle appointments for the same day. It means though he will have had eye drops in his eye so it could be a tad tricky reading any material they give him lol.

Yesterday morning I sprayed oxalis that came in with some mulch and by dinner time it was all dead. Must be because it is so hot. I very rarely spray weeds but this is a nasty weed and I had no choice or it would spread.

We have to replace the rear tyres on the car tomorrow. MrK will take the car in and have it done. It wasn't that long ago we had to replace the front tyres from when he hit a sharp rock edging. There's always something just when you think you are getting ahead with the $$$.

Time to get on with the day.

Good morning KM.   What do you use to spray the oxalis?   I have it bursting out all over the rose bed and it's impossible to weed out properly.

Morning everyone

Lovely here at the mo.

Hit 30 in the middle of the house at 7-10pm last night. I actually nodded off watching the cricket earlier so dont know if it was hotter.. I seldom sleep during the day so must have needed it. Especially after all the early starts.

Glad the older gentleman has help from you and the blokes Jan. The alarms give peace of mind.. And if he suspects someone is trying to break in etc. tell him to press it too. The alarm is generally enough for them to run. And the fastest way to get the Ambos there is to press the alarm and dont answer, then they will get there sooner rather than later.

MrP was in a massive mood last night. He cant hold the phone is the right place for me to hear what he is saying, so had a hissy. Ill leave him alone today and go see him tomorrow.

Will have a look at my fabric today and see if I have anything to make some more trousers with.

But Pretty much Ill avoid anything that makes me too hot.. I will say Im glad I lost the weight tho cos it would be way worse if I was still carrying that around.

Have a fab day everyone

Hi Olive, I used Roundup Tongue I know of its reputation but used using protective gear and using it carefully, I have found it to be quite effective with oxalis. I think the near 30 degrees we had yesterday helped things along quickly.

Good morning.

Another hot summer's day ahead with rain forecast for tomorrow.

A lovely afternoon yesterday with the family bringing eats and drinks. We were able to sit outside under the umbrellas with some breeze to help with the heat. Good, old fashioned fun for the grandkids when we turned on the sprinkler for them to run under  Smile

In my last rural garden I had no oxalis unless it came in with 'something' .... that dirt surrounding it and the bulb(s) was carefully dug out and examined before discarding! I didn't know there was a specific spray which would have been useful in previous gardens! I haven't seen any here .... so far.

No plan for today ... if it cools down later will thin out the alstroemeria that is threatening to take over and throw around some compost ready to despatch from the bin. Yesterday we finally got our netting over the blueberries from which I picked the first one the other day. The plants are laden and we don't want to share with the birds.

Time to move, my cup is empty.

Enjoy the day all.

ETA: I see you use roundup KM.
