You can never have enough...
Yes I thought about the vets Kiwimade.

They are still too good as yet. I will need to go through the blankets etc too.

I just did something I never thought would ever happen.

Many years ago my parents offered me their Kenwood Cake mixer. We were living in our Bus at the time and I said Noo, it would take up too much room.. Stupid I know and I have regretted it for 30 odd years.

Today Briscoe's had them half price. So I didn't even phone and ask them to hold one for me. I went over. I hummed and harhhed all the way. But I have one.. MrP used to mix the Christmas cakes, and he dying gave me the extra to be able to afford it.. Jimmy, My stepfather loved to bake so Im going to call it Jimmy... It was the last they had, so I was meant to have it.

Jimmy and I used to love wandering around the kitchen sections in stores.

Im soo dammed excited. I've waited 30 years lol.. It should outlive me hopefully.

Have put my pudding on, done the vege's for tea and have a load of washing on... Now I will rest my knee that certainly doesn't like going out 3 days in a row. lol

I have a little sunbeam food processor, ten years old now and still goes. I would love a big kitchenaid mixer, but I'd rarely use it...

Halfway through crabapple jelly making. Thinking of doing one jar with fine chopped mint, to have with my occasional lamb dinners. Maybe if there's enough lovely pink juice...

Good for you Popeye, may you have many successful uses of it! Smile

I've successfully put off doing much more sorting out in the workroom...I stumbled across two packets of oil pastels & decided too use them on the black double sheet I got with a  duvet cover & which I'm never going to use. The trees & birds have been up for years & had started to fall off the wall in the hallway & I finally got fed up & chucked them up the gully.

I'm never again having anything in frames in the hall (thanks to the quakes, when I had to race down hallway while framed stuff fell everywhere) so something light may work, we'll see.
Started a sort of city at night thingy, might work, might not we'll see. I'd thought of painting but that would have meant doing gesso under it first & really don't want to spend that much time on it. Had a bash yesterday with sheet spread over tarp on floor but quite difficult so thinking of getting sweetie darling to help me hang tarp on wall with sheet over it - we'll see how it goes.

Eldest great grandson had his ADDHD assessment, they'll get results in a couple of weeks but were told its very likely to be ADDHD. It does seem very likely, when even his teachers are convinced that's what it is.
in order to be old & wise, you must first be young & stupid. (I'm still working on that.)

I Like the look of Kitchen -aid ones too Hunni. But have always wanted the Kenwood. Decided I was never likley to have the money to get one in the future so went for it.

And I know if I hadn't, Id have been really pi**ed off with myself.. Im not normally a spur of the moment sort of person. so its a biggie for me.

Right Im going to show the floor some love, I wondered what the Yellow tinge is and realised its from the towels lol.. They are soo thick. Cant wait to use one lol.

The last thing my husband said to me before he passed was my Kitchenaide beater was to go to one of my granddaughters who is a very good baker - he had a really good day woke me about midnight to tell me the beater was to go to my granddaughter - I had a chuckle and reminded him he had surprised me with it when we were in Oz and it was mine to give away - I had an old but efficient Kenwood when he arrived home out of the blue with a beautiful purple Kitchenaide - we were watching MasterChef at the time they used them - he told me he would haunt me if the beater ended up at the second hand shop -he leaned over and kissed me on the forehead - next morning he passed .I hadn’t used it for months so gave it to my granddaughter with love from her grandad -I have a little $19 hand beater I bought to wind skeins of wool - I read online you put a toilet roll holder over the beater and tie the end to it - put the skein of wool around two chair backs and turn the beater on - the old boy told me it was going to end in disaster and it did - wouldn’t have been so bad if I had turned the beater off as soon as it started to go wrong - ended up with a gigantic birds nest - it’s a great little beater only really use it to beat up the egg white when I make fritters
It’s been a beautiful day in the Bay for art deco - lots of tourists up and down the street

morning ladies Smile We could use some rain please!

Well done on your mixer, popeye. I have a Breville standing mixer and bought it using a combination of points and $$$ through Flybuys. I love it and it's used lots.

Yesterday I weeded the corner where more tree branches landed and today I'll work my way round more fenceline. The lavatera needs prunning back again, it's back to fence height and smothering other plants. I'm going to have to jig one part of the garden when the electricians come in with a digger to dig a trench for the power cable and will have to think about what to do with the azaleas and other precious plants. I do know Blackberry Nip, one of my new rose climbers will be moved over to the 'new' space when the tree comes out.

Almost finished the first quarter edging, I estimate about an hour of stitching before I can move up the other side. Am very happy with it so far, there are a few mistakes but nothing noticeable and there is no way I am going back to unpick it. I'll take a pic when this quarter is done Smile

Morning Everyone

I agree Kiwimade, the cracks in the ground are getting massive. Big gaps along the concrete edges too.

Thank you re the Mixer. I know it was a Blardy good investment. Oddly I dont really have anyone that loves to bake as much as I do, that I could leave it too.. but You never know who I will meet in the future.

It would have annoyed MrP overnight. Cos its still in the box and I hadn't opened it until this morning to get the book out. That used to frustrate the heck out of him lol Ill read it when Im done on here. I like to savour every stage lol.

Hope to get at least the front of Maureen's lawn done this morning. It was simply too hot yesterday. Even doing the floors had the sweat running.

Ohh I roasted a chicken thigh, tatty and Kumara last night. Could have simply done both kumaras and enjoyed them. lol.. Ill leave the next for a few days.. Spread the enjoyment .

Unpicked the skirt off the dress. I actually thought it was hand made but I did find a label on it. but I dont think its ever been washed, there was a good long zip in it. So I will have to juggle how I make a cushion out of it. Its Black with flowers on it, Very pretty.

Have a fab day all

Good morning.

Sunny and we're in for another hot day.

Happy cooking with the assistance of your new Kenwood Popeye. My old KW is now mid forties and has had a lot of use over the years, not so much in recent years ... if I need a beater now I usually grab my hand held electric beater for baking.

Shortly going to watch the Nippers at the Surf Club competition. Young GS is competing ... we won't stay too long if it starts to heat up.

My butter beans continue to grow great guns ... look forward to those first flowers, if there's going to be any beans!

Cuppa finished, better get slathered in sunscreen.

Enjoy the day all.

Been Palmerston North today with like minded sewists always a good day out small blip hold up on transmission gully down to one lane caused 40 min delay on way home.

Morning everyone

Looks like rain is close.. Fingers crossed.

Very True about Palmy being Flat Hunni. Only been there a couple of times.

I got all of Maureen's lawn done. It was hard work but I like a challenge. They have decided to go into a rest home. I do think its best, they are both 91 and fading quite quickly. Wiseley they put the house into a Trust years ago, so hopefully they wont be made to sell it to be in a home.
If I didn't plan on moving to Taranaki I would have loved to rent it. The yard is smaller, the kitchen is very workable, like mine and I love the covered back porch.

Off to see the Gang today, must make a sammie for my lunch. I get growled at if I dont take something lol.

Have a fab day everyone.. we need the rain Please let it Pour down lol

morning ladies Smile We have a real pea souper this morning, the thickest fog we've had for ages. Our part of the road is closed again Big Grin Big Grin Must admit, we are quite happy to have the traffic diverted lol.

Yesterday afternoon I finished the edging for the first quarter of the runner and started across the bottom of the second quarter. I basted some stitches across the fabric to make sure my angles were accurate and bingo! lol, my second corner was absolutely spot on. I was a very happy girl lol.

MrK is slowly but surely working his way through the garden shed and finding all sorts of stuff we had forgotten about. Amazing how much we crammed in there. We have some old paint I'll take into Resenes to be disposed of safely but leave the leftover house paint from a few years ago. Next month I plan to sand a few spots on the house back and touch up the paint where the heat has caused it to flake. It will be good to use the shed as a garden shed once more and not for junk.

Good morning..

Nice and sunny, in for another hot day. Am not too sure about promised rain ... will see.

Obviously picked the peak time for school/kindy run this morning ... meant slow moving! Before we know it, will be dodging the rainy days ... meantime enjoying the fine weather for such times.

Thanks for the Rengarenga offer KM ... will keep that in mind, so far have 13 sprouted ... a wee bit of a pain that they are going to be so obviously different in size for eventual potting up/planting out! The most spread out germination ever! The blueberries are still providing some for on our cereal each morning ... very clever the way they ripen over a long period.

No particular plan for the day, though the floor could do with a vacuum ... better tackle that first.

Enjoy the day all.

That crabapple jelly with mint set beautifully, and tastes wonderful, sweet, and minty. It will be lovely on hot lamb...

Next batch though will be for my winter crumpets.

Yum, crabapple jelly ... a taste of yesteryear. One of my MIL's specialties when it came to preserving.

And the colour is glorious. Taste, perfume, jewel colour. Worth doing if you can get hold of a few...

The garden outside MrP's old room at the second rest home had a crab apple tree. It had two apples on it at one stage.

We used to have a tree that was always covered. I love crabapple jelly. Even tho Im not a big eater of sweet things like that.

Bobby was off the planet today. She ate. But I had to take her to the toilet and leave her with staff, she was screaming. Then when she came out she told me she would hit them next time. I told her off and said if she did that they would send her away. She calmed down in the end.. But When I went to leave she said Noo she's not allowed to leave, so I just carried on walking, they will calm her down.

But we all had fun together

I remember that stage with my Mum. The staff would call me in to settle her. I understood the rage though, it must be terrifying to lose so much and not understand why.
