Why is it people choose to be ignorant when it is quite easy to educate ourselves thanks to the wonderous miracle of the internet?

Commonly referred to as 'wilful ignorance' and very difficult to counter those "none so blind as those that will not see". Just have to wait for karma to do its thing I guess.
