I'm certain everybody has heard of the world flood mentioned in The Bible. It is said that it rained for 40 days and 40 nights.
Whether you believe The Bible account or not it seems that in ancient times there was indeed a year long flood. It is written in the histories of Egypt, China, Iraq and India to name but a few that have similar flood stories.
The flood was an event so profound it is remembered in folklore and texts in cultures around the world.
Noah spent decades building the ark. He told everyone about the flood but only his family believed him.
But I wonder if by "the world" they really mean the known world and that the flood did not cover the entire globe?
And will it happen again? Well you might think that it was a mini version that affected Auckland recently, but according to the version in The Bible mankind was assured that it would not happen again. Here's hoping.
