Dashcam use in France discouraged
#2
It has been commonplace for Police to request access to the content of dashcams and CCTV systems following crimes so to backtrack on the viability of such evidence would seem unlikely. The linked article focussed on dashcams but why should their content and legality differ from that of (privately owned) CCTV installations?

I've heard that Tesla has struck difficulties in European markets with possibly breaching privacy laws with its 'sentry mode' which videos any activity near the car and has caught numerous vandals in the act with legal action following based on the video.

After watching numerous examples of video footage of rear end collisions involving following drivers distracted by cell phone use our own dashcam provides a welcome sense of security in regard to potential traffic incidents.
