Does COVID mess with your DNA?

Weird thing is ive got a friend who suffers real bad with CFS and he was really worried what COVID would do to him, luckily he was no worse off after eventually getting COVID but ive heard from others that did not fare so well.

COVID seems to have the ability to reboot latent viruses including shingles and EBV. As CFS is often associated with EBV maybe if that virus was already active then COVID's effect on its effects would be negligable.

Yeah quite possible, ive heard a bit about COVID being linked to shingles, which would make sense as the chickenpox virus lives in your spine like herpes.
COVID must be able to reactivate the virus in some way, typically because your immune system is under load i guess.
