Personally I quite like the efforts to integrate maori language into NZ culture, it helps me learn a little bit every day... But I do feel English should be the prominent language displayed, purely from a road safety POV

Exactly how I feel I'm not against it, but when you hear maori being deliberately overused it just gets annoying.

Try spending some time in Canada then. Not only all broadcasting and signage is bilingual but also all product labelling and official documents. What New Zealand is doing currently is coming up to speed with rights and respect for our indigenous peoples. They were quite happy living in this country before a fleet of British ships appeared from beyond the horizon to bugger up their way of life and lay claim to their land. We owe them a little recompense and recognition for what was literally appropriation by force.
