I have personal experiences with drawn out deaths by dementia. I think it missed an opportunity by excluding it.
Yes, my darling, beautiful mother, started showing signs at late 79 years. In a rest home for about 2 years then to the varying degrees of Dementia Places til she needed full 24hr care at 85. She dragged on from there till she died at 87. she didn't know me (her favourite) from about 82-3 onward and spent her last 2 years sitting in a lazyboy chair with her eyes shut and jaw dropped. Terrible, only consolation was that she didn't know anything.
The end of life bill wouldn't have applied to her had it been available as one has to give consent and of course, Mum didn't even know day from night.
