Yes that is really what its about - controlling people. And its easier to control women if their body autonomy is removed.
And some states in USA now have even gone to the extreme of not allowing abortion even if that means the mother will almost certainly die - which makes very clear that its about power & control.
in order to be old & wise, you must first be young & stupid. (I'm still working on that.)
