You'd think that the way we just carry on between governments would underscore just how utterly unimportant most politicians are. But somehow that never registers with them...

I remember a few elections back when Winston held the whole caboodle to ransom for weeks while he tried to cobble together a government that included him. The country operated just fine during that period, so what is it that we actually need them for again?
