Write to Minister Simmonds to call for consistent access to flexible disability support

Kia ora koutou,

Thanks to you, to media pressure and political pressure, momentum is building to recognise the injustice of slashing disability, family and carer support.
Please help strengthen this call by writing to Minister Simmonds at P.Simmonds@ministers.govt.nz. We're calling on her to
work with Whaikaha and the disability community and sector to ensure disabled people, family/whānau and carers have consistent access to the flexible support we need to live with dignity now and into the future.
Here are some tips for a strong email:

Include a clear ask such as the suggested wording above
Explain how the cutbacks directly affect you, your family, organisation or community (or say you're writing in solidarity)
Point out that the cutbacks don't align with an Enabling Good Lives approach and are a step backwards for disabled people and whānau under the UN Convention on the rights of Persons with disabilities
You can make your feelings clear but stay polite - your email is more likely to be read that way
In solidarity,
Sam.
PS For updates and further collective organising, you can join this Facebook group Fighting for equity for disabled people NZ.
Take the next step!
