My surgeon's take home 'instructions' had a suggestion to that effect and I left it until about 5 weeks after surgery before I drove. In my case our car is an EV so essentially automatic but with the regenerative at maximum it will stop completely if the throttle is lifted so no braking required except in an emergency. My surgery was on my left knee which made the situation easier too.
Im 7 weeks 2 days, so it will be nearly 8 weeks if I drive on Tuesday.
