Shop Pay automated system

My only experience with Shop Pay was when I "bought" something from what turned out to be a scam site. It was one of those fake sites that is instantly created when you search for something on line, in my case an obscure bit of homeware. I paid using Visa, a Shop Pay box appeared to take my details and on completion the whole site disappeared.
