Just installed W1124H2 ( Pro) on a non compliant Hardware ( thanks Rufus)  ( update due to be pushed out as of now ->>)

It breaks all shared folders that are not password protected.  Any shares that are pass worded work fine, but there are many people whom set it up so a NAS doesn't need a password. Sorry wont work any more just a warning about unsecure etc    Article Describing

The "Workarounds" MS post don't work, including these Microsoft work around

Anyone find a solution -- much apricated -- In mean time still  looking  Confused Dodgy

the workarounds seem to refer to windows 11 as the server (ie password protected sharing turned off, everyone permissions), overriding the default to allow guest access.  I imagine in this situation win 11 both sides can authenticate using the SMB signing referred to.

If I read it correctly the real problem is if a windows 11 client is connecting to an old NAS box that doesn't support the SMB signing

The Problem is in the New 24H2 -- Easily proved as any earlier Computer, tried from 5 of them, and they all access previously shared network folders on  computers and NAS devices. Two in particular have been open Media Vault ( NAS running on Linux ) this has the options of password protected - which 24H2 does work. The other been playing with CasaOS its a simple NAS setup running on Ubuntu Server. This is for a couple of people who dont want to have to muck around with Linux sharing being a PITA ! and to complicated.

Anyhows Smile  -- Found an additional article- and after applying the changes WORKS -- Back in Business. WORKING FIX - Scroll down past explanation

Tried it on W11 Pro, but not Home (yet - but about to)   May have to install gpedit into Home as it's not part of the home version by default. The difference between the MS one and this is MS didn't include the Local Policy option.  Haven't seen any reports regarding W11 HOME -- So gonna try that shortly.
Upgrades = Old bugs replaced with new Bugs.
