West coast mining to go ahead

It'll be good news for the vulture landlords flocking down there, buying up properties & then renting them at N.I. prices.
It'll be good news for the mine owners & to a greatly lesser extent, the poor sods with no other option than to work down the mine.

It will not be good news for our environment & it will not be good news for anyone, should there be another accident in the mine.

Environmental regulations and health and safety has long since improved in that time.

that's a bit dreamy CT - profit motive will win everytime.  

Regulation and H&S will only be effective if it is monitored externally and we all know this government's attitude to regulation - slash and burn... Overtime the "regulators" visit less, budgets get cut, staff get laid off...
