And that my friend should tell you alot about the state of affairs in the USA.
Perhaps that 15,000,000 did not support either party, so would rather not vote at all.
The policies that Trump plans to roll out are going to make for economic hardship for the very people who voted for him. Tariffs will ramp up inflation. Deportation of immigrants who do a large portion of the menial tasks and food production workforce will raise prices as wages for those that do those jobs rise will increase the price of food and services. A government driven by negative sentiment will foster crime and social disconnection with public services needing increased inputs so more expense.
The similarities with our own governments promotion of extractive industries will see the US leapfrog China's emissions with manufacturing and energy industries based on last century's technologies. Make no mistake, China's transition to renewable power generation is happening at pace and this together with the BRICS alliance will present a challenge to the US's international economic and political standing while their leadership is too anchored in the past to realise it until too late.
We like most of the world are viewing the coming Trump presidency with extreme apprehension and with good reason. Hold on 'cause we're in for a rough ride for the next few years.
