There is a big kiwi population there. Gives me hope my grandchildren will still be a little bit New Zild...

Maybe influenced by the opportunities in oil & gas, and heavy engineering associated with O&G and mining, there was enough Taranaki expats in Perth for Taranaki Anniversary Day to be celebrated by those in the Perth community a couple of decades back. Living on sand between the desert and the Indian Ocean didn't appeal to me but my brother has been there for >30 years and has an Aussie wife and kids who call it home.
