Good morning from a very dry very hot HB - my audit job is finished so having to run my own air conditioning- really enjoyed being back in the office but certainly pleased I don’t still work - the job itself was gobsmacking - this is just the tip of the iceberg there are buildings all over the country that are not compliant .One of the audits I completed was 9 prebuilt houses cost over 11 million dollars that had been constructed in a yard somewhere but no record existed of them being occupied .Eventually found them - had been sitting in a yard completed for 3 years - but they weren’t compliant not one inspection had been completed despite the construction company getting paid over 1 million dollars for each house that had a value of $300,000 - there was no fraud as there was no contract - he was just told by Kiwibuild go build nine houses send us an invoice you will be paid -when it was discovered the houses were not compliant they were left in the yard and tax payers paid another million dollars storage - these houses are now compliant and were moved last week to land adjacent to a marae for 9 elderly couples .There are school buildings - one school has 4 new toilets that cost over 1 million - again no fraud as there was no contract and the builder was entitled to charge labour and travel as he saw fit

Would love to be an email leaker but wouldn’t bother sending it to TV1 - watching their coverage of the boot camp kids proved Sir Ian Taylor’s questioning their integrity very valid - absolutely no mention of the other kids who are doing well - two have regular jobs and two are regularly attending work experience .
Robie has set up a school - has had so many kids wanting to work who can’t read or write which means you can only do recycling or trolley collection - he has found a retired school teacher - the kids their full weeks wages - if they don’t want to go to school they don’t have to .Last week the shop celebrated 20 years - there were 5 kids who started their life in the supermarket crèche working there - my daughter in law has a masters degree in early childhood so when she had her son he spent the first weeks of his life in the bottom drawer of her office desk - decided to turn the conference room into a crèche - is fantastic for the Mums as baby is upstairs - the same lady is running the crèche after 19 years - I am sure there are some who haven’t enjoyed working for them but I am proud of them .
My American neighbour across the road - invited quite a few people from the neighbourhood and her art circle for nibbles on Sunday 4 pm Xmas afternoon tea fund raising for the hospice - she didn’t say no children and many in the art group are young so arrived with their children all dressed up in their pretty dresses and she turned them away !
