I was delighted yesterday to see a second series of Rogue Heroes is back on tvnz plus, so watched two of those last night while pinning a little piece of needlepoint out to even out the sides, I am going to centre it on a piece of floral linen and overstitch and maybe add a bit of old velvet ribbon to make a pretty cushion cover. Another bit of crafting I came across in the internet drought sort out that I don't want to dispose of, at least not till I have made something of it. I do love doing needlepoint, especially the gorgeous English kits, butterflies and flowers and the occasional complicated oriental rug based one.
Years back I got quite addicted when the surgeons were rebuilding my leg and I had to spend months in non weightbearing casts, the stitchery became a way to occupy hours of enforced inactivity. The kits started me off and I ended up making rugs and table carpets, that I still really enjoy using all these years later. The hours behind those tiny stitches are quite mind blowing if I pause to consider it, and interestingly, I don't regret any one of them. There is something about the way time melts when I have a needle in my fingers. And a massive stash of coloured yarns is another secret pleasure! Which I confess I have just added to with another TM indulgence, mixed blue yarns for yet another winter sweater, and at a bargain price - a rare thing for wools these days, it is an expensive pastime.
Still, considering the joy there is in the making, probably a good investment in mental health!
