Yup, aging bodies need boosting and the docs often prescribe supplements. B12 is a common one as is D, but a scripted replacement is not quite the same as the vast mountains of product people buy, consume, and then excrete with no more need than the imaginary one generated by marketing agencies - for and on behalf of the so called natural health industry. But, considering the reality that is the modern diet, or rather - diets, it is probably a reasonable alternative to learning how to use food as medicine, the way our ancestors did. It is yet another example of the way 21st living is so different from the one we are biologically supposed to be engaged in.
Btw, that little story my neighbour with the tooth issue has been telling everyone proves to be somewhat stretched. The truth is being required to reveal her actual bank details to the Winz staffer betrayed the fact she had a healthy savings account, way beyond the limit imposed by law, and one she has been keeping very quiet about for decades. Cheating the system, as do many in social housing, for whatever reason. So, today she is in the dentist's chair at her own expense and very cross about it, and I am sitting here at home with my cuppa and tablet, completely without sympathy for her, and somewhat relieved to know that those of us who do not cheat still have a safety net available.
It really is so much simpler in the long run to just be honest.
