A rather lovely thing happened this evening. You will recall my beloved was an angler, and a good one at that, and that he tied his own trout flies, and that I had held on to them for way too many years.
Well, I listed them and sold them to the Mum of a young man who was learning to fly fish with his grandfather. When they came to collect I met him and could see he was someone my husband would have liked. An earnest young man but excited by the all those feathery things on hooks. So I was happy to hand them over.
This evening I got an email from him with a photo of him holding his first fish, a nice wee rainbow, and the grin on his face said it all. Those flies still work it seems. Isn't that such a lovely thing for him to do?
