Keep in mind that a lot of these distros have a fairly short lifespan (2/3 of those on distrowatch are formant and discontinued), basically any one can roll up their own distro and put it out there, but then lose interest in it - so I would stick with the mainstream distros...
and agree with above about file sharing on linux mint, was too difficult to implement file sharing with windows, but ubuntu works fine...
