Turning 60 in our family is a biggie really. My eldest nephew will be 50 next year. Outlived his mother, brother, uncle and all the grandparents.
I had fun opp shopping. I have a stack of 5 cookbooks. Yeah I shouldn't have but they are kiwi bakers and I have a good collection of them. And it was 5 books for $3. 2 Jo Seagers, 3 Alison Holsts and one Robyn Martin which I already had.
Best Buy other than finally finding the right bags for my vacuum cleaner are 5 Rodd Silver bread and butter knives. 50 cents each. Im guessing they didn't look to see what was written on them. So I'm soaking them gently to get the last of the sellotape off them and I will use them. They have pretty handles.
Not sure if my pain med is getting too strong but I kept getting wobbly when out. I usually try not to take one before i go out. So I better try harder and just not do it... To see if it is the pills.
Have decided Ill be having a bit of a change around in the kitchen on the weekend. The breakfast bar area is getting too cluttered and I can see it from the lounge so it has been annoying me.
Those years looking after Mum were difficult popeye, but not something I regret doing. Looking back though I spent most of my fit adult life looking after someone or another, as we do, and it has made me very wary of going down that path ever again. So I am careful with my friendships, keeping an eye open for excessively needy or manipulative personalities, these last years I am determined to look after myself, even if that appears selfish from the outside.
I recommend it. And if folk do not understand why, that is their issue, not mine...
Totally agree Hunni.
And its one thing that rest home David doesn't understand.. he is not happy that neither Dianne or myself are not visiting the home.
We are both Happier, healthier, less stressed and our houses are happier too . along with Dis hubby and dogs and my madam.
We dont have family in there. If we did we would still be there. and walking into a depressing place wondering if Colleen or Annie are at each others throats was getting really hard.
No need to put ourselves in the middle of that crap any longer.
Its really neat actually doing what I feel like when I feel like it. Pretty much a first time thing for me really.
I only did a few months on my own in Mangakino before my parents moved down. Then I married MrP and carried on going to see the ladies long enough at the home.
It really is MY TIME now. No one to look after but myself.
And its fun..
