morning ladies
I suspect we have had a mild frost this morning.
I remember working in the 80's and the idiot guy who was employed the same day as me, worked less, and was paid more. And I remember a young guy I trained being offered the promotion instead of me. When I challenged my boss, he said, Oh, you're married, and I didn't think your husband would want to give up his job for you to move for a promotion. My reply was, he would have been very happy to move with me. DON'T ever make assumptions. At least have the decency to offer me the job and give me the right of refusal. He did apologise and hopefully had something to think about. But I remember being extremely pis*** off about both episodes.
Women need to be valued; without the work they do this country would pretty much come to a standstill. And fair pay, is not a big ask. And if the job they do can't be compared to a 'mans' job, then figure out a way to work out what that job is worth and pay them. DON'T take the rug out from under their feet and assume they will smile and take it. Nicola Willis and the Nats promised the cancer drugs would be delivered. They then tried to wriggle out of it (go ahead, blame Labour. BUT they had to borrow, thanks a bunch COVID and national agreed with it at the time). National had to borrow to pay for the drugs and to keep their promise and now Willis is wanting to balance the books. And this is how she is doing it. Shame on all the female National MPs for agreeing with this. That's my take on it anyway.
On a happier note, MrK seems to be on the mend. And we received an e-mail from AMI saying they will be chasing the young guy up for our policy excess. He's in for a surprise when he gets a bill for a washing machine lol. We aren't holding our breath though.
Happy Mother's Day to all our mums. I hope you have a wonderful day today. I'm off to my happy place in the garden once I have MrK sorted.
