Thing is though, we cannot/should not rely on neighbours in this situation. It's unwise. She has an alarm., she could have used that as soon as she went down. She has family living close but she refuses to rely on them, instead putting the responsibility on us - "so they don't worry"... But it's okay to worry us. And it weighs heavily when someone does that without understanding that we might not want that job. While I am happy to do the odd thing for neighbours, I am not happy to take on caregiver roles - it is simply burdensome. What if in trying to help her we caused her an injury? Or strained our own bodies? It comes back to this thing about boundaries. I'm going to have to have that conversation with her I think, and don't I just know it's going to put me in the norty corner, lol...
