When you have an occupied territory, with a population who have been repeatedly harassed, attacked, vilified, and murdered by an uninvited neighbour, who steals their land and threatens their security, for generations, what exactly does the world expect?

After WW2 the Allies, confounded with guilt at what they found in the concentration camps, decided to make the Zionist goals of some Jews come to fruition. So they sought a 'homeland' that could fit the bill. There were a number of suggestions, some madder than others, but Palestine won the lottery. And the two bully boy partners, the UK, and the USA, with the best intentions made it so, disrupting the landholders, changing the demographics, and causing a generational wound that exacerbated the trauma and grievances of groups of peoples who had previously few quarrels and a shared history. Once the homeland was decided and announced people came from all over the world, people of shared Jewish heritage, people displaced and traumatised by the Holocaust, and new settlers drawn by the dreams of a paradise in the desert. New land... Living space.

Great idea, terrible consequences for all of them, new and old. Predictable, with the benefit of hindsight.

Hence the current world's drive and intention to create the two state solution. But that too, in its turn has consequences, primarily for the occupying force lead by a despotic maniac with dreams of his own.

Yes, we condemn Hamas. Like any militant group it uses terrorism and brutality to advance its aims. So do the Israeli armed forces, and for the same reasons. And we understand the reasoning behind their war making, but the fact is it cannot be justified on either side, a solution has to be reached. The maniacs have to be stopped, because the cost in other lives is just too great. And going on numbers alone, it is easy to see who is suffering most.

Stop knocking heisenberg, and start learning.

Well said. It seems he doesn't bother with other threads or he'd have seen the condemnation of both the Israeli govt & Hamas leaders.

But perhaps he just wants to provoke a reaction.
in order to be old & wise, you must first be young & stupid. (I'm still working on that.)
