Is it just me or has Mr Jones become even more of a clown just recently? Could it be something he ate?

He seems lately to be speaking in a manner less baroque and more readily understood.   His vile messages are more direct, e.g.  "my beloved mining".    I think I prefer the previous style, full of strained metaphors and passive-aggressive insults, less comprehensible, less focussed and less dangerous.

Perhaps he's in training to be a statesman when Winston finally retires.
