Need to replace baking dish that snappednin half in DH hand while washing it  might venture out later when rain subsides. Had a coffee so off to do more quiltingnwhile I wait for rain to stop.

Roma what wool did you buy ?  I have resisted my clicky finger so far. I am waiting for a pattern to arrive from Knit World  going to knit jersey for DGD2 from some pink alpaca that I have in my stash.

The doc did point out that in her opinion, gp s were more open to patient wishes than hospital based staff, especially in busy departments where time pressures could lead to automatic responses rather than checking background health records - hence the need for a really easily seen reminder of a patient's choice on resus decisions. Next visit in three months we'll go through my ACD choices and finalise those, things like treatment options under various scenarios.

I was quite impressed by the way she handled this, better I think than my last doc.

Agreexre hospital staff regarding dnr  my cousin (senior nurse) had to complain about Dr who wanted to disregard my aunts wishes which were all correctly documented. Arrogant  twit tried to tell her dnr wasn't worth the paper it was written on. He took on the wrong person - censored

We had rain! And a good dose of it too.

You can always make a formal complaint through the Health and Disability Commissioner if you feel you aren't being heard or being ignored when making these choices. We made a formal complaint about the way mrK was treated at Waikato Hospital and as a result, things changed for the better and we had an apology.

Speaking of Waikato Hospital lol. The booking clerk phoned, and I have an appointment for an echo And an appointment for the clinic is coming shortly. She said they were really busy so couldn't get me the appointments for the same day. I told her, I don't care, make the appointment and I will be there. So, things are moving along finally.

And I have potted the daffs and the muscari, and unearthed a long trough of last years lachenalias that I had almost forgotten about, now repotted into four lots so they should brighten up the steps in mid winter, all because the weather looked dubious so I wimped out of my Wednesday coffee and cake. After all, I did that yesterday and got drizzled on, which is not fun... so no repeat performance. But we'll see what tomorrow looks like. Still chilly and grey out there, so I might just let the day go now and read my book till dinner...

And I have just realised, those lachenalias had petticoat daffs in with them last year, which might account for the round bulbs in among the long ones. Stupid woman. Oh well, I can separate them next year, lol...

morning ladies We're about to have a beautiful day after the rain.

Back into the garden for me, a bit more of a shuffle round to make room for the potted plants that need planting out. And this time, I will trim back the iris'. My sister-in-law has some petticoat daffs, they are so pretty. My tete-a tete daffs are planted around a sign as well as in a pot. I never have much luck with tulips The hyacinths did better in a pot than in the ground last spring, I'll repot them shortly once I have emptied a bigger pot.

We now have a pair of piwakawaka flitting about the garden. We can get so close to them especially when refilling the bird bath.

Morning everyone

Had more much needed rain yesterday. I must see if the ground is reacquainting itself with the footpaths again. There was nearly a 2 inch gap.

Got more packing done yesterday. Just the Living stuff needed to do. And that's a last job cos I need it to live.

Phone calls made to Winz and an appointment made. Just have to email the current property managers which ill do tomorrow.

Did quite a lot of the darker areas on Missy, but I got tired last night so put it down. And promptly missed the program I was watching..

Bloods and a little bit of shopping this morning, then Ill come home and finish the books. I could take the ones to my friend this morning, but she's having her dialysis and quite frankly I dont like seeing her hubby when she's not there. He is annoying me by blowing me kisses and I aint going down that road.

The sun is up so maybe it will be fine today.

Had a fantail in the garage the other day. Thankfully he flew back out. Last time that happened I nearly dislocated my shoulder, pinched the nerves. And it was a stupid thing to tell the dr Id been using a fly swat trying to encourage the bird tom  go outside lol.

Nice,  fresh morning after the rain ... the cooler nights now are welcome. 

I also have Piwakawaka flitting around the garden lately and one made a surprise house visit ... cheep, cheeping it's way through, fortunately finding the open door!

Good that you are a step closer to dealing to your health issue KM ... slowly but surely!

Raining and very cold merino day for sure

We had Piwakawaka here couple days ago flew into the dining room and out again feline who was sitting on the fence was very interested. 

Just about finished the quilting  I will need to find binding fabric from my stripe  stash.

My morning at warehouse only have 5 pairs booties to take this week. Bootie knitting on hold have started  knitting DGD2 a pink jersey in the softest alpaca yarn. It will take a while.

Bloody gallstones. I suspect I upset them with being bent over for way too long playing with the bulbs yesterday and they paid me back with the usual dramas overnight. Wearing off now thank heavens , this getting old business has its moments that's for sure. I am though very pleased with my knitting so far, I got another few inches done in between swearing bouts it made a good distraction.

Gorgeous day out there, with a definite light breeze rattling the leaves in our plane trees. They have that slightly dry sound that hearalds the beginning of the big drop. They are so massive now the leaf piles are enormous in Autumn, blanketing all the lawns, it becomes the season of leaf blowers. Stupid machines, all they do is move the things temporarily, the next breeze puts them all back where they started. But contractors aren't really familiar with rakes, brooms, and those glorious big piles we used to play in as kids...

Ouch OHH, gallstones playing up don't sound pleasant at all, hopefully today a better one.

Leaf blowers ... the bane of my life (their sound especially) now that we are in town! So true how people don't realise that blowing anything from A to B achieves nothing. I was most annoyed recently on my way home, to see a mowing contractor (to the Council I think) blowing newly mown grass into the roadside gutter/grill .... ignoramus! Where does he think it goes ....... besides out of his sight

Apparently some councils in Oz have banned the things, something we should do here. Leaves are such a rich resource in so many ways, we should do better. And don't get me started on lawns, those pretty green deserts we seem so enamoured of, one of the symptoms really of our consumer society, demonstrating how wasteful we are of land and resources that could feed people and all kinds of other living things. All because it looks good.

Imagine all those flat green carpets as wildflower gardens, or growing vegetables...

That would be an excellent idea - leave the leaves alone!  And I prefer my lawns in summer,with those lovely brown patches...which don't need mowing.


I only meant to do a bit in the garden this morning, but then I saw another bit which looked easy to pull out & then there was another bit just around the corner...by the time I'd finished, the bin was full again & there's another pile of weeds waiting for that lot to shrink down a bit.

This morning when I was chopping up & frying zuccini & mushrooms, Madame le Cat sauntered in & took an immeidate interest in them. I ignored the little fiend, thought she might want a drink of milk & could wait a bit. 

It was about then that she landed on my shoulders, & quickly transferred to the bench, trying to grab either mushrooms or zuccini. Lifted her carefully onto the floor.
She landed on my shoulder again, looking longingly at the pan.

It was clear that I'd get no peace, so I gave her a tiny bit of zuccinni.

Fantastic for batting around the kitchen apparently, but not quite what her ladyship required. And sure enough once I gave her a tiny slice of mushroom she chomped it down very quickly.


If anyone has any old sayings they can recall, there's a thread down in general discussions called Things you don't hear so much anymore, mainly stuff we might have heard our parents come out with that isn't heard now, feel free to add them to the thread.

I will admit to liking our lawn, but the garden is slowly encroaching on it. We have streets that have huge trees, and the council will clean them up if you sweep them into the gutters. They tell residents what days they will be there. The neighbours big trees are lovely, but I hate how they block our gutters. I must book our young guy in to clean them out shortly. I rake the leaves onto the garden and leave them there. Great compost and weed suppressant.

The Furry One bailed up the stray cat under the house last evening. We think it was the cat as we didn't see it, but it was far too late for rabbits. Fingers crossed it wasn't a stoat. We had to bring him indoors and close his doggy door for a while.

Morning everyone

Tis chilly this morning. and I slept in a bit too.. I usually do as it cools down .

Its going to be a beautiful day tho.

I will be calling the moving company again. They were supposed to call me back.

Then Ill pack the last of the books and some of the loose stuff in the sewing room.

Im going to ask Robynn if I can move some of the stuff out of the garage around early. The place is empty so I can't see it being a problem. She's still waiting to hear back about the Meth test, if need be I can put stuff in the middle of the garage Im guessing they check walls etc.

Dianne came in yesterday and we sat and talked for over 4 hours. We always have something to talk about. She showed me videos of Mum drumming. They used to have a guy come into the home with real drums, bongos and some taller ones. Mum was always in time.. They stopped it cos the guy got "Too expensive".. Typical of them. for a none profit organization they are tight with their money.

I saw the Beat Kids at the Gala and it would be soo much fun. they were loving it.. Sitting on Paint buckets beating Paint buckets. I could seriously get into that.. MrP hated it if I started "Beating" my knife on my dinner plates.. oops lol NOT

Fat chance here - I have a two alarm system. Madame le Cat & Madame le Dog. 
They're absolutely scrupulous about the human getting up on time & while they have no objection to the human getting up early & have been known to 'encourage' it, they take a very dim view of any attempt at sleeping past the time they've decided upon.

I had a lovely gift today. I was scooting really slowly through a busy Devonport when a woman tapped me on the shoulder in a very gentle and loving way and spoke to me in te reo. I smiled at her and nodded, with no idea what she had said but knowing it was well meant. Got home and googled the phrase, to discover it was 'manaaki koe, whaea' - or bless you auntie, obviously supporting my choice to fly the tino rangatiratanga flag on the scoot. The response to that little act has been interesting over the months since I started, ranging from outright stares, to celebratory toots, thumbs up, and lots and lots of kia oras from all kinds of people. And only one negative response from a man who called it a divisive act. Just one.

Makes me smile, and proud to be a kiwi...
