Extremely rowdy night here, rain and serious wind, but the old trees seem to have survived it. The neighbours beastly bamboo has taken a battering, a few very tall stalks bent in half, so once itsettles and the time is right I shall go down and do a bit more lopping. It is a very untidy plant, bamboo, as well as being a sneaky invader, so I give it no mercy whenever the opportunity presents itself. I find the exercise quite satisfying, a bit of destruction can be like that!
Your boom might have been a transformer popeye. They can be loud when they go...

I was thinking a transformer as well, any power cuts?
It was a tree falling on a passing car and blocking the road that caused the two police cars to go hooning by. Two hours later and the traffic is coming through again. I guess the local arborists will be busy! Makes me very glad our old big trees have gone.

I hope everyone is safe and well, the wind here is huge. Am so glad we are not out and about in it.
The Furry One is funny, he checks one door to see if he can go out, nope, too windy or rainy, then checks the other door to see if it is different lol.

Yup, the Tatt is feeling a bit better too and alternating between checking out front door then deck door. She doesn't approve of either prospect and blames me completely.
Dare I check the weather forecast? Maybe not...

No power cuts here. Did see one smaller tree down.
I noticed when we came home tho that a tree over the back fence of Maureen's is dead and its massive. If it comes down it will hit the back porch for sure. There is a back hedge, Im not sure if there is a fence in it tho.
My up North brother said its pretty wild up there but they are ok.
My lawns are done, so one less worry. And a Happy lad cos I gave him $10 extra cos it was long.
Dianne's hubby found us still here so he pulled my venetian blinds down in the kitchen. Ill sit on the bench and take the clips down. And he very kindly brought me some pork chops. I asked if I could hug him today.. Have wanted to for ages but wasn't sure if he was a Huggy type..
We have lined the cupboards, measured and re measured and came up with the same ideas.. its like walking around with a twin ( In saying that tho my own twin and I dont have the same thoughts).. and we get to the same idea at the same time. So we have drawn plans and numbered the rooms so the furniture can go in place.
I will phone Sky shortly. The one tv Aireal that I wanted to work , in the lounge isn't working. So its worth an extra month for me to get the sky man in to fix it, while they pay for it.. Then Ill cancel it in a month lol.
The good part is no doors will be blocked, I can use one of my screen doors in the hall to keep madam in when I leave. Two of the pantries will fit with the desk and the upright freezer in the craft room..
Im pretty much stuffed.. So madam has me pinned to my chair.. She doesnt like the deepheat but puts up with it.
They told me I couldn't, so I did.!!

morning ladies It's much calmer this morning, still raining but at least no wind for now.
We'll have another quiet day. In saying that, the last side of the fence to be repaired got the wobbles in the wind yesterday so I was out in the rain bracing it. It survived overnight so am quite chuffed. It will have to stay braced until we have saved more to have it repaired.
Another guilt free embroidery day today. I can cut and weave the bits I stitched yesterday today. The runner is quite long and doing it this way divides up the different parts.
Stay safe Happy crafting.

Damp not cold
GK had fun at Easter egg hunt yesterday. DGD2 wasn't keen to hunt eggs but that changed when I told her they were chocolate eggs
Got the hot cross buns dough which has had its first rise overnight in the fridge current in a bowl on bench coming up to room temperature DDS asked if I could make his with chocolate as he doent like craisins/raisins so I have obliged.
Expecting the gaggle to arrive at 11am to consume fresh out of the oven buns the afternoon will be mine will continue to play with quilting
Enjoy your day

Calmer here too after another loud night, made more interesting by a neighbour arriving home rather late and very drunk and having an interesting time parking his car between two others. Loud conversations were had and no doubt more will be had if either car bears scars, I suspect management will be involved sooner or later, this guy is an idiot.
No trees down, but plane tree leaf fall has begun which will annoy the gardeners, I love them the way they dance in the air and pile up in the corners, it reminds me of leaf sweeping duties as a child followed by playing in those huge piles of crunchy things. It's a lovely season, even with the annual tempests.

Good morning.
It's still wild, windy and raining. Has been all yesterday and last night as well.
I wish I'd thought to get a shin bone ... it feels like a soup kind of day, the kind of day to hunker down. Expect to see 1 lot of the family later ... if they decide to venture out.
I hope something done about the disruptive neighbour OHH ... the worst kind.
Glad the fence survived KM!
My knitting is well underway and I have just started a J Bublitz book, so all is good.
Stay warm and dry all.

Good morning everyone. And Happy Easter.
Still wet here and the wind has dropped.
Yesterday Dianne was talking to my neighbour about their boat that has been sitting on the front lawn for nearly 6 years that I know of. And I was in the car watching the fence between my house and Maureens.. she was swaying in the wind rather gracefully. Its old and 6 foot tall. It needs to be braced or replaced.
I nodded off while online last night, cant have been for twoo long. but I was asleep by 9pm lol.
Ill finish the sewing room today. And I may move the smaller bits from my room.. Ill see how the body copes.
Ohh man I hope there wont be any damage to the cars Hunni.. My friend who lived in one lot of our flats here was a taxi driver. She Wiseley got the end park which meant her car could only be hit on one side at least. There was a man there who hit cars all over town. he became a close friend to a local panel beater..
Everyone breathed a huge sigh of relief when the Drs took his license off him.. Same with my geography teacher. She had such a routine that people stayed off the roads so they didn't come across her lol.
Dianne and Paul came into town last night and she stopped by to give me an easter egg.. Ive ordered a passionfruit plant for her.
Have a lovely day all

Yes, he is turning out to be a bit of a pain. A couple of weeks ago someone started banging on my door at some ungodly hour, someone who was ignored until they gave up that nonsense because if I take my contact lenses out I am blind and couldn't identify whoever was there anyway. We get weird people who think banging on our doors is amusing, so most of us just lock up and hunker down, but this time he was spotted under the outdoor lights by another neighbour so we know it was him. Quite a scary thing if you live alone and are the sensitive type, my neighbour was quite upset seeing she has one of those 'interesting' marriage histories and is a bit paranoid about security, understandably.
I might have to have words if this keeps happening.

I can imagine it would be very upsetting for the not so strong person.
Oddly right throughout our marriage, MrP never got up to the door at night, I had to do it. He never got rid of creepy crawlies I had to do it.
So At lest now Im strong enough to cope with it... And Im not scared to ring the police either lol..
Makes you wonder if they should be vetting people that move into communal type living situations..
I know the bad driving guy I mentioned before was a pain in the neck to all the women at the flats.. thought he was gods gift but you would have to be desperate to be in his company. lol

Our nieghbour's kids are in their togs having a ball in the rain on the trampoline lol. It's so good to see kids still do this sort of thing.
Oh yum, homemade hot cross buns. There is only the two of us here, so I bought a packet of Couplands (soooo good lol) cranberry buns for us.
I hope those cars are ok or it will be a very expensive night out for that guy. Our car's damage was over $3000 and that was two doors, trim and a wheel. Paint is so expensive depending on the car colour so he either had better have the $$$ in the bank or be prepared to pay any damages over a very long time as insurance won't pay if you are drunk.

Oh boy, continuing story after last night's disturbances. Apparently the drunk neighbour came home and tried to park - twice - between two cars swiping both in the process. Then he backed out and hit the fence waking the neighbouring household who came out to try to sort stuff out, while the wife inside just phoned the police. Then drunk tries to repark lower down the drive under my kitchen window and swipes one of the cars again on the other side. Then the cops arrive... I missed most of this being the avoid confrontation type unless someone needs help, but I'm told he was taken away because he refused breath test and came back later claining he was sober the whole time, and begging other car owners not to call their insurance companies - 'I can pay for any damage' he says.
This man is a nuisance annd a danger to other tenants. I shall keep my head down and continue to avoid him. I feel sorry for the two ladies with damaged cars though, way too much stress coming their way.
Life in a quiet oldies village eh?

He sounds as though he migh have an addiction problem Hunni, & if he hasn't addressed it by this stage of his life then he may never do so. Not fun for those around him.
Hope all those up north in the awful weather are OK.
Have just posted some sketches in the Friday funny thread for anyone interested - the last one with Billy Connolly & Kenny Everett where Billy keeps cracking up is priceless.
At eldest granddaughter's most of yesterday, bothe boys on school holidays so lovely to have time with them - they've grown again & the eldest is gaining on me, much to his delight. Madame le Dog wasn't happy about being somewhere strange but eventually adjusted. Madame le Cat still isn't talking to me though..
Cold & drizzly here so not venturing out apart from a very short dog walk a bit later.
in order to be old & wise, you must first be young & stupid. (I'm still working on that.)

Even if he had insurance they wouldn't pay out as he was drunk. He has some major repair bills coming his way. They should all claim and leave it to the insurance companies to chase him up. They will have more clout.

That is what they intend doing, as well as lodging formal complaints about his behaviour. More incidents are coming to light, like him walking in on another lady tenant uninvited late at night and sitting on her couch refusing to leave. And no doubt the police will charge him when the blood test result come back, one of our lot were told he is well known to the cops. History. Bet the landlords didn't know that when he got into a beautifully refurbed flat with subsidised rental. Which according to the pm, he isn't very good at keeping clean. Gossip...
My jealousy over these new kitchens everyone else gets is starting to show, lol...

Wow he sounds like a real asset to the Village.. NOT... I have no sympathy for idiots like that..
Yep Id be letting the insurance companies deal with it. He's probably not insured anyway.
Sadly there always seems to be one that manages to mess everyone else about.
I've done the sewing room.. Must say it wasn't as bad as I thought. Had just finished, as I vacuumed around the walls Madam brought in a skink... Well I say she brought it in, I have no idea where it came from but she was following it. finally managed to pick him up with a paper towel and pop him out the window.. Told him not to wriggle and I promised not to hurt him. I've always liked Skinks.
Took the Key around to Robynn and there was what Im assuming either a very old of perhaps just a stubborn Sea Gull. He was dark grey. Standing right in the middle of a 4 way corner , I had to go around him to get to Robynn's.. he wasn't hurt cos we watched him move to nearly the side of the road.
By the time I left he had moved to nearly the middle again but was surrounded by a gaggle of Girls Im guessing.
So Ive decided he is Romeo and just having too much fun to be moving out of anyone's way.
Our fresh choice was open, and will be all weekend but I daresay they have sold out of Easter eggs now cos it was busy when I was there. Good on them..
They are Indian so not Christians, if they get a fine they will easily cover that cost. New World is shut two days.
So now I will keep my feet up for a while.. and Since Madam has plonked herself between them, Im guessing she has pulled Rank on me anyway.
They told me I couldn't, so I did.!!
