I could also still smell and taste when I had Covid.
MrK is still in hospital, his INR just won't budge. Told them to boost his warfarin but they are nervous about doing that without talking to the cardiac doctors. Oh well... guess he stays put.
The pretty cream knee high dahlias are in the ground and Dublin Bay pruned. I love pruning her, I have the canes trained now so the flowers stand up like soldiers and it looks really pretty. Only need the compost for the dahlias and that is the roadside fenceline done.
Time for a cuppa.

And sadly food in hospitals can really mess up your INR.. tell them normal eating at home will bring it back to normal.
Thankfully I know why mine is low, its cos Im having more meat.
Cant blardy win lol.. but Im hoping it will settle down soon. The handy part is it is on the low side, which is what they need before they operate lol.
Dianne and I had a quick look around so she could see the changes Id made, then lunch then we nipped over to Pukekohe. The lab here wouldn't take her urine collection. So we went to the lab over there.
Went to a new shop which has antiques and collectable, more industrial and bloke-ish in a way but we both like that too. Massive prices ouch lol.
Then I showed her the habitat for Humanity that I only found on Friday. I got another red Duvet cover.
She is doing amazingly well managing her pain etc. We sat and talked in the car when she brought me home, showed her my knee bits. Another thing we have in common is not giving in and pushing ourselves in our recovery. The only thing she was having trouble is was getting out of bed, but that's cos our backs are the same and she does like I do. grab the bedding to help maneuver yourself out.
Oddly I can still bend over and touch my toes etc, she cant, yet our spines are seized in the same place.. Mind you I've always been bendable lol.
Im going to be lazy and have a chip buttie for dinner.. Cos I have lovely thick fresh bread. And it shouldn't mess up my bloods tomorrow. lol
They told me I couldn't, so I did.!!

Bending is muscle though rather than bones, something I work on because it is core strength, and has so many benefits for the future. As for the bed thing, a dining chair is really useful, placed near the bed, for just that purpose, though you can get a steel pipe loop attached to a flat support that slides under the mattress near the pillows and that is a really good support to pull on.
I am looking forward to tomorrow's dinner, because the leftovers have all been eaten up now. The downside of cooking for one. Fish and chips tomorrow. And the throat is feeling lots better, I think it was all the honey...

Great excitement, my power bill arrived. $109 which includes one week of the broken hot water cylinder, so next month might be back to under the hundred, which would make me very happy. Now I wait for Haumaru to cough up a bit towards the big bills for the last three months. Be interesting to see how much that is, they are not a generous organisation.
To celebrate, me and the Tatt are enjoying half an hour of the heat pump, lol...

Wow that's a good power bill Hunni.
I actually put the heat pump on while I cooked the chips.. I had the little heater on in the lounge and the kitchen was only 12 degrees.
Both off now. I need to pop into the chemist and get something for my eyes. With having to use heating my eyes are dry, so is my nose for that matter.
Madam is curled up on my lap with the not so warm hottie under then blanket.. she loves warmth.

morning ladies We have another doozy of a frost this morning. No visit to Waikato this morning, I will go tomorrow.
That's a great power bill, OHH Just shows how much power hot water uses. Another reason for us to have the heat pump system.
Housework for me today and when the frost lifts, I'll move some compost onto the dahlia bed and prune a few more roses. Might even do some weeding as I prune. The bin man has been so the prunings can go straight into the bin and not have to wait for them to be emptied. I saw a gorgeous rose a while back, an Austin called Litchfield Angel. Am wondering if I could possibly squeeze one more into the garden. It will have to wait until next season though. Most of my roses are Austins or NZ bred.
Coffee is finished, the Furry One is bugging me to play, so no excuses to sit lol. MrK will be phoning after the doctors' rounds, I hope he tells them to bump his warfarin up. We're both over it.

More good news this morning, the sore throat turns out to be a garden variety cold in the nose so I can happily whinge and whine and know it will all be over soon enough. This winter has been a bit of a pain so far, but the common cold bug I can deal with.
Weather looks okay out there, chilly but clear, so a library visit is on the cards and a few top up groceries, some nice cold fresh air in my lungs can't hurt either, and a good excuse not to do housework...

Good morning.
A cold start but the sun is shining, should be a good day.
I hope Mr K is close to discharge, nothing like recovering in your own home! That rose a beauty ... mine were mainly the Austins ... gorgeous, hardy roses ... very addictive! I miss them but seem to be accumulating dahlias instead now ... more ordered but all minis for pots. I have a space in just the right place, facing full sun for them
Wow OHH, a much better power bill for you. Mine is more than twice yours ... another of the times I think downsizing would be beneficial
One lot of the family going back home, another lot returning. Good to have outside time weather for the hols ... cabin fever with kids is real!
Better get moving.
Enjoy the day all.

Housework done and the kettle should boil soon. They need MrK to stay put to ensure his warfarin level doesn't cause any more internal bleeding. It's a fine line between just right and too much. We spoke this morning, and his favourite nurse is back on duty today and the doctors hadn't been round. He'll phone again after lunch and should know more by then.
Kettle's boiled, will have a cuppa then move some compost. Amazing what you get done when you have no interruptions

Morning everyone
A crisp start here too. but the sun is shining so Missy is happy.
The hospitals dont realise stress doesn't help your INR either.. Mending at home is much faster and better for you.
I was going to do my bloods again today cos the dr wanted it done in 4 days. Well it will be 5 since Ill pretty much be right next door when I take the car up for the warrant tomorrow.
The curtain hook I put up in the little doorway in the kitchen let go over night so Ill fix that later when my fingers are working better.
Housework is up to date so Ill do my games then paint. My newest Missy picture arrived yesterday, so its tempting but I might do some flowers next. Will have to get one out and press it under some books. They roll / fold them and they end up creased which is annoying.
Stay warm everyone.

Very true Kiwimade, re the bleeding internally..
Sometimes I hate that I have to take it.. and wish for "Normal" again.
But the option of taking it versus repeat open heart surgeries was enough to put me off. And even if I wanted to get a pig valve they would still have to open me up to get the mechanical one out.
So a Bugger if you do and Bugger if you dont. They weren't doing the cow valve ones like MrP got when I had mine replaced unfortunately.
They told me I couldn't, so I did.!!

Some days, life is just plain challenging. Today, I got organised, put the library pile together, got the shopping list, put all that on the scoot and took off in the sun...
Halfway point I noticed a weird noise, a familiar weird noise, and sure enough - flat tyre.
Oh boy. But I didn't swear.
Out loud.

Gidday
Crisp start glorious clear skies. Sunshine certainly makes me feel good
Great power bill OHH sorry about your flat tyre is there an equivalent to AA for scooters?
Been into city for meeting back home in time for lunch. Have been invited for coffee with neighbours this afternoon so that will be nice.
Finished my scarf/shawl it needs to be blocked will do that tomorrow.
The ink colored stretch denim arrived at 6.30am so its been washed
The quilt fabric I ordered for next baby quilt arrived. Quilt shop lovely the phoned me when they received my order I noted that I wanted to order more but their system had a glitch so couldn't. Anyway sent the extra and just said pay us when you receive it. Of course I have paid but so nice to be trusted to do the right thing. The $8 postage worth it as it is a 40 min drive from here so saved time a fuel costs.
Have good day
It's fun to have fun but you have to know how

Oh Bugger Hunni..
MrP would say its only flat on the bottom. Hope you managed to get some help.. Wonder if you can find spares on TM from dead scoots.
Lovely when your trusted eh Mica. I have the same treatment from the Garage I use for my warrants... Which Im doing tomorrow but it will only take 2 weeks to pay for it this year instead of it dragging out.
Curtain is rehung, I moved the hooks and then got a slightly longer piece of curtain wire. Its got a little droop but it will be ok.
New Duvet is out on the clothes line.. Thinking of asking if I or the landlords can change the rope that is on it. Its filthy and leaves marks on the clothes etc. I have stopped hanging anything white on there. Wonder if I could take it down, or the Tall one, and soak it for a while that might help..
Will ask if they arrive with the new smoke alarm.
Im having Louisiana Chicken for my dinner, and got 3 drums out, Ill cook at the same time and use them in a sandwich tomorrow. I think I have a small handful of wedges Ill throw in to finish them off too
Thinking of going to Pukekohe again on Thursday. Reduced to Clear is where I get the chicken from and also my big tins of peaches. I was too lazy to open a big tin this morning so opened a small tin of fruit salad and the pears are nice with the rice too, and they had the big tins of those too.
They told me I couldn't, so I did.!!

There is, through AA, a roadside service, but I use Independent Living which is a charity based mobility specialist service, they've looked after me for years. I emailed them, and they'll pick up the scoot on Thursday, take her back to the workshop fix the tyre and check the others for me and bring her back the following week, and it won't cost me a fortune. I trust them to do what's best, and that's worth having. I might get them to turn down the reversing alarm too, it is way too loud...
A neighbour will run me down to the library this afternoon and with luck there'll be time to grab a few things from New World, and then I shall hibernate, nurse this cold along and next week all will be sorted.
So I have started a new knitting project, a cuffed scarf shawl, to use up all the leftovers in my wool bag. That should keep me sane for a few days while the sniffles do their worst...

Bad luck re the scoot Hunni, hope they can fix it sooner than expected, annoying to not be able to come & go as usual. I envy you your power bill, that's brilliant.
Remember years ago when electricity was publicly owned...
And damn well still should be imo. B'stard politicians.
Hope all goes well with Mr KM. And good luck with that clothes line Popeye.
Did the dreaded groceries - how exciting. Not. But did manage another goodish bash at the ivy, until it decided to drizzle dammit.

Oh, buggar about the flat tyre, OHH. I see AMI has given us free roadside assistance for the car now. Blimmen good idea. Never thought about it for scooters.
We have a rat in the top cupboard. Well, we did. It was rattling around in the cupboard this morning and by chance, that is where the rat bait is kept. Checked the cupboard a few minutes ago and yep, the little buggar had chewed a hole in the ceiling to get into the cupboard. And a whole container of rat bait (1kg) has been eaten. That'll learn ya, ya little bast***. There is a huge, horrible mess to clean up. Shut the door and thought, that's tomorrow's job. And we'll need a handyman to fix the ceiling in there.
No rain here, but omg it's cold. Freezing even.

Poor silly ratty.
I am cheating. Wandering through New World and found one of their ready made quiches at chuck out price, so grabbed it, halved it, piled good stuff on top and popped it in the oven while I watch an episode of Grand Designs on youtube, lazy, but I'm using the head cold as a good excuse. And the rest will feed me tomorrow.
And I bought ice cream too. Salted caramel. Because I need cheering up.
And I have ten library books. So if you don't see me, that's where I will be...
