You can never have enough...
Good for you huntlygirl, doing the hard work to recover. Having been inches away from a stroke of my own I know how scary it gets, good luck for a full recovery.

I am still waiting to hear from Winz, maybe today, and despite it being only a few days not having my freedom machine available is getting on my wick, lol. I am very grumpy so just as well I have plenty to amuse me and don't need to inflict myself on innocent passers by.

Morning everyone

The Sun us shining, chilly but I dont mind

Welcome Back Huntlygirl.. Bugger re the stroke but with all those lovely grandies you have a good reason to do all that is needed to keep up with them.

Could you contact the local fire brigade or some other group that could come and deal with the tree and turn it into fundraising for the group doing it?

OMG if you all could have been here last night. Sitting there chatting to MrP while Madam Nosey stuck her nose or I should sat Paw where it wasn't Needed.. On the Call Button of the St Johns Alarm. Pressing heavy enough to set it off lol. It takes me a little while to ditch the hottie and blanket on my lap, pulled the plug from the phone and called it off. While she took off to the bedroom. Took a good 10 minutes for her to slim her tail down again lol. We were laughing sooo much that she didnt appreciate that either.

She kept looking at me like I had done it and we shouldn't be laughing at her.... Im kinda hoping she doesnt do it again, and especially if Im out. Cos then they will arrive and come in, and could let her out. So I have blocked it off for now, but will get one of my spare plastic trays for like holding paper etc in it and pop that over the top.

Im meant to be visiting MrP again today but I think ill call him instead.

Have a fab day all

Morning all,
finally the sun is peeping through with a few light intermittent showers.

The K9s and DGS are off walking so that should blow of some stream.

Not sure how much longer DGS will be with us - must be a bit boring for him. we have a tent in our lounge and he seems to like playing in it  Big Grin

so no sewing plans for today though I did manage to sew the last seam on a little cross body purse  yesterday I am relatively pleased with how it turned out.

Huntlygirl nice that you have joined us, sorry about your stroke its a bu....ger when you cant do stuff. Hope the tree is cleared soon.

KM glad the aggies are out - how are the ones by the road going any sign of capitulation?

Have a enjoyable day

Good morning - very changeable weather here - bet you didn’t go walking to the library yesterday Venetian -
Lost my wonderful elderly aunt to covid late last week - she was a very fit 93 still living on her own -my fathers sister died when her children were young so my grand parents brought her 5 children up - my grand father decided to go all out when my aunts were married and they had a great big double wedding that made front page of the newspaper - 10 bridesmaids and all my siblings and cousins flower girls and page boys - our dresses were the colours of the rainbow and mine was green - I played up a treat I wanted the pink or lavender dresses my cousins wore .I can still remember my father glaring at me as I played up in the church complaining the stand up collar was pricking my neck .The hospital was as bad as all the reports in the media are claiming - the nurses are broken - my aunt was in a palliative care ward with three others -my cousin who stayed with my aunt was asked to care for the other patients who had no family as there were no nurses available - lucky other cousins were able to help - Will miss her she was one of those people who always saw the good side of life - went through a stage of dying her hair purple with condies chystals (sp)- looking back she was on her own before she was 30 - her husband was a scoundrel according to my Mum so dying her hair at home was probably budget driven
I bought some lovely wool from Ribbon rose - the colours of a Paula shell going to make a hat but haven’t found the right pattern - well that’s the excuse for not getting started

Good morning all.

Gorgeous day here, about to take the pooch for a walk now I've had my coffee.

Hi Huntlygirl, glad that you are improving after your stroke. You sure have an expanding family and your GD Violet sounds delightful Smile

Mica, your GS will have fun just doing new/different things away from home ... the tent will be fun for him.  The outing with the dogs will be a good energy burner, just what boys need at some stage of the day! The new baby is a good premmie weight and will be home in no time.

Really need to get into my garden today, KM you provide the inspiration needed, just need to get going!

A wee 3 ply jacket underway, forgotten how find the yarn is but it grows quickly and I really enjoy knitting in front of the TV at night.

Righto pooch is standing waiting for me, better get moving.

Enjoy the day.

Sorry to read about your aunt JanW. The hospital situation is so depressing ... we can only hope my 95 year old mum and 101 year old father-in-law can be protected from getting Covid, but no guarantee  Sad

Sounds like your aunt was a fabulous woman Jan, and to make it to that age - strong indeed. Always a sad time, losing someone who featured so much in our lives...

Cheers for the good wishes - her funeral isn’t until Saturday she didn’t want anybody to have to take time off work - her older sister is now the only sibling surviving she hasn’t been well for about 15 years - life sends some curve balls at times

Good to hear that you're on recovery mode, Huntlygirl

The pawalarm sounds like fun KM!

I love the sound of your aunt's purple hair Jan, I had purple streaks a few years back so appreciate how good it would have looked.

Still no second booster as I hadn't time to wait so made an appointment for Friday instead so hope to get it done at last.

morning ladies Smile What an awesome sunrise we had this morning, dark shades of grey with all the sunrise colours.

Wow, Jan, 93 is a great age. So sad it was covid, she could have had more years.

Yesterday I flagged the garden to clean the front entrance I had planned to clean days ago but never did. It looks much better with the spiders evicted and everything scrubbed down. Just need to replace the light bulb. So that's both the back and front entrances looking respectable Big Grin

Today I'll start weeding and work my way round the garden over the next couple of days. We're supposed to be having fine days so I shouldn't get rained on. Mica, those roadside aggies are still there and are just so damed stubborn. I might have to ask our friend who does lawns etc for help. But the worst of them are gone Big Grin When we moved here the fenceline along our little road was full of them. Over time I have gradually dug them out and MrK has replaced them with espaliered camellias. Once more weed spray along the main road and I can plant the hydrangeas. It's a slow work in progress but am getting there. One good thing about having the road frontage bare is no one has dumped rubbish. We are well and truly over that, take your rubbish home! Would love to find out who those people are and dump their rubbish back in their back yard.

Washing machine has beeped and the Furry One is restless. I see him eyeing up his tug rope so my ankles and shin are about to be bashed.

Happy crafting Smile

My impatience got the better of me late yesterday and I rang Winz to check on things. Had to wait an hour and a half to get through to a human being who wasn't singing one of the same six kiwi anthems then to learn the process is underway and I should get a call back today. Lovely young man on the phone though, deeply horrified by the cost of mobility scooter batteries. I share your pain young man, but being without my wheels hurts even more!

Ah well, life is full of these little challenges, and at least I haven't run out of library books. Pity though, that the day outside looks like being a stunner, and I cannot go adventuring...

Yet.

Morning everyone

Sorry to hear about your Aunt Jan, I bet she had some good stories from her life.

Glad Baby is doing well Mica, hang in there.

I need to do my front door too Kiwimade. I seldom go out that way but noticed the other day that it would fit in with Halloween lol.

Im off on a Missy Mission today. I need all her bikkies , puree kisses and sachets. The spoilt little madam. But I hate it when her food gets boring.
Its odd really I like to make sure she has a variety and it was the same with MrP. but me, I dont mind boring when it comes to my food.
I need very little for me so thats probably a good thing lol. Better get MrP some goodies too.

Have a fab day all

Hi All

I’m in Wellington at the moment - what a wet freezing place it is at the moment. Fortunately can stay warm inside.

Went to the NZ Children’s and Young Adults book awards last evening. Niece had been short listed in one of the categories so rather proud of her as her first children’s book. It was a lovely evening and great to meet up with other family at the same time.   Rolleyes

Hope your scooter gets fixed soon OHH

Well done to your niece Venetian, good for her, I hope she succeeds in becoming a writer. My youngest granddaughter had one of her stories included in the Library secondary schools competition a while ago & was really pleased & its encouraged her to keep going with writing.

I hope WINZ does the decent thing Hunni; surely they understand that its a matter of your mobility.

Bitterly cold here & had a few showers earlier so no work in the garden today - we very nearly froze when we went for the walk earlier. so just messing about with a couple of paintings instead today.

Woo hoo, Winz came through. At $9 a fortnight repayment that is such a kindness, can't wait to get those batteries in place and brrrrrm brrrrm back into freedom!

Well, groceries anyway!

How exciting for her, there is nothing quite like seeing your words in print in a real actual book!

Excellent news Hunni - although imo there ought to be no question of repaying them. Things which are a matter of mental health such as the ability to go out & socialise & keep ourselves sane ( well, relatively in my case since according to the grandkids I'm slightly weird) & do groceries etc etc, should be paid for with our taxes, & not need to be repaid.

But then apparently I'm a stroppy weird lefty. Smile

I like repaying - and after all, it is coming out of my Super which is a gift denied to many. Nope, I am very happy...

Btw, did you watch Seven Sharp? And the Hu? Love love love...

morning ladies Smile A frosty start to the day today but the suns out Smile

Congratulations to your niece, venetian Smile That's really exciting stuff.

Good to hear your wee grandie is out of the incubator, mica. It won't be long before baby is home Smile

I'm glad WINZ was able to help with the batteries, OHH. Their repayments are fair too. There has been the odd time we have had to ask for help and they have come through. It works out cheaper for them for you to be active and mobile so a win-win for all.

Yesterday I weeded halfway round the garden and today the plan is to finish it. The wheelie bins are becoming rather full so I'll make piles of weeds ready to be binned when they have been emptied. Once weeded, I can start planting the plants I have had in pots over winter. There are a couple of spots where I need to get busy with the spade. Blimmen twitch is a bu**ar to get rid of. And I thought I had dug out all the belladonas, but it looks like I didn't get them all.

I've finished the final small butterfly Big Grin and today I will wash the pieces and prepare them for sewing. AM very happy with the end results so far. Will take pics when the tote bag is all finished.

happy crafting Smile
