Windows 11 Pro Media player
#1

.docx   Windows 11 Media Player Subtitles saga.docx (Size: 68.39 KB / Downloads: 5)

Since I updated from Win 10 Pro (64bit) to Win 11 Pro (64bit) on 15 January 2023   I have had an issue with Windows Media Player.
Please read the attached file which details the saga of my communications with Microsoft Community. I cannot ger a solution/direct answer from them.
FYI I have the latest version of Slimjet (64)  and have previously explained to MS Community that I have had VLC for approx 10 years and Daum Pot Player for approx 2 years which is why I am particularly frustrated with the last post from Hahn.
I hope that forum members may be able to assist me.

Thanks
Neil

i'm assuming you are referring to the old legacy "Windows Media Player", I think you will find little motivation and support to fix bugs in it as the WMP 12 page only lists support up to Windows 10
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/wind...8ec121b5b8

or are you actually having the subtitles problem with the modern "Media Player" app? In which case a bug will usually get resolved eventually once reported, but I wouldn't hold your breath it will happen any time soon...

As for your menus, the copy paste move rename options are now buttons at the top or bottom of the context menu... no written labels, just an icon to identify it

Alternatively you can bypass the new context menu and revert to displaying the old context menu (ie more options) by a simple registry edit

This world would be a perfect place if it wasn't for the people.

Many thanks king1. Your comments reflect my opinions but i am conscious that in the past (PCWorldNZ forum) ,members have sometimes been able to provide solutions (or good workarounds) in place of MSoft lack. Also, I am aware that I can often overlook "fixes" through my own lack of skill.
I am a long time Msoft User but get frustrated where MSCommunity replies seem to ignore prior info provided and seem to evade a specific meaningful reply
Thanks again

Sometimes ya just have to use a different Player. I have quite a few different.

If you want a simple one to handle subtitles, KMPlayer couldn't be easier. As long as the clip has Subs, pressing Alt+X turns them on or off.

The context menu, to get the old one to work, when right clicking on a file, hold down the Shift key at the same time, this will make the old menu open.

Hi Wainuitech, sorry to trouble you but can you please guide me on one factor with KM Player.
I installed it, and as you say -easy. The menu bar for KM Player shows in absolutely tiny font.--i.e where one clicks on OpenFiles, Open Folder etc.
I have played around with various Preferences -screen control etc. but no joy.. Can you please guide me how I can get the Menu options display font to be a reasonable/more easily readable size.
thanks

Had a look, cant see how to make it smaller ( mines displaying as they should) I did a look about and found this  https://superuser.com/questions/1352716/...windows-10

The instruction in that link, The Actual KM player exe may not be in the program files but C:\KMplayer folder

No Idea if it will work, as I cant replicate the problems.
