Well...he would, wouldn't he...
He at least had the grace to qualify that with 'better for the economy'.
It certainly wouldn't be better for women. Or poor people. Or migrants. Or anyone who wasn't well off.

He says Trump lowered taxes, and he likes that. But Trump only lowered high income tax, lower income tax rates hardly changed - in line with John Key's thinking.

When people become wealthy they seem to become either or. Either better people, or worse...
Thank goodness we have lots who chose the better.

Anyone who supports Trump in any way is outing themselves as a fool and one who shows no awareness of what is required for our long term democratic survival.
Trump is a burgeoning despot.
To hear that Key has said this is doubly disturbing, it shows that he is the money-grubber I always thought he was but more so that he does not have the wherewithal to realize that to support Trump is to show what a low-life you are to any discerning observer.
I always knew that Key was a shocker but to hear this is confirmation of all that I despise about him and more.
What I've always said about Key is that he has "a lean and hungry look". "Teflon John"
It's not the least charm of a theory that it is refutable. The hundred-times-refuted theory of "free will" owes its persistence to this charm alone; some one is always appearing who feels himself strong enough to refute it - Friedrich Nietzsche

That's it exactly - teflon, just as Luxon is; very very smooth & amiable. Until, no doubt their comfortable lifestyle is threatened. You have to wonder whether they're even aware of anything at all outside their own lives & that of their circle of friends & relatives.
Perhaps if you ignore all news reports contrary to the way in which you see the world, then it might be possible to ignore the possible repercussions in the future for other people - including your own descendants.
Which is the bit I don't get...
I don't think I'm the only person who is fearful for all Americans (& others) should Trump become president.

He was also known as the "smiling assassin" for his ruthless currency trading activity, and don't forget his failed attempt to get rid of our lovely traditional New Zealand flag.
Additionally here is a 'Profile: John Key' from the BBC

I actually can't stand him, just the contrived bland look on his face is annoying. He's actually 12 years younger than me, I'm not sure where he gets his certainty about how he is capable of running a country from considering his money grubbing past.

What sealed it for me was ''Not in my position of Prime Minister'', where he admitted to telling lies...but, y'know... Teflon John alright.

Well, after this mornings Q&A, and last weeks tobacco minister revelations, I am starting to think lying is part of the Nats strategy.

I can't stand him either - he's so utterly, blandly false.
Although I'd like to see the flag changed, I think he was never going to make it happen. I think its a bit too soon.

I think we just adopt the number one alternative, and slowly that is happening. I even have it in button form on the scoot.

The dissenters?
The stroppy lot?

I'm guessing it's not the laser kiwi...
I suspect it's this one - I prefer this one; even purely from a design point of view, its far & away the best design. It should be our national flag one day & with any with sort of luck, it will be. eventually.

https://www.mch.govt.nz/our-work/flags-a...tanga-flag The Tino Rangatiratanga flag has accumulated too much negative racial baggage for it to be a contender anytime soon. Not going to happen IMO
My pick was the Red Peak design. Simple and distinctive with some real symbolism included in it. Still some dissenters but probably still less blowback than for the Tino Rangatiratanga flag. The Laser Kiwi still rocks though!
Seems a Key/Trump thread has morphed into a flag debate. Helps fill a wet Sunday afternoon I guess

Those are both good designs. Nonetheless I still prefer the Tino rangitiratanga flag.
"Explanation of design:
Black represents Te Korekore, the realm of potential, the heavens, the long darkness from which the world emerged. Black also represents the male element - formless, floating and passive.
White represents Te Ao Mārama the realm of being, the world of light, the physical world. White also symbolises purity, harmony enlightenment, and balance.
Red represents Te Whei Ao, the realm of coming into being. Red also represents active, lashing, southern, falling, emergence, forest, land, and gestation. Red is the female element, Papatuanuku, the earth mother, the sustainer of all living things. Red is also the colour of earth from which the first human was made.
The Koru (the curling frond shape) represents the unfolding of new life, rebirth, continuity, renewal and hope for the future.'
And red/black/ white are also crone colours too...

I haven't really looked closely at the meaning of the Tino Rangatiratanga flag, it is a good design and looks good as well.
I once did a graphics arts design course so I can't help but analyze the flags from that perspective and a lot fail miserably.

I did a couple of those courses too, ages ago now.
Our present flag is just awful - utterly unoriginal but reflects those times very well.
