You can never have enough...
Absolutely stunning Kiwimade - bet he is so proud to wear it - love his comment at the vet

Cruise ship season must have started with a bang - multiple tourist buses this morning - it’s a beautiful day here - they couldn’t have picked a better day to visit
Popeye I read recently the Commissioner for Aged Care complaining that her office are not receiving details of shortcomings within the sector - if people don’t take advantage of the resource staff numbers will be cut - we used to supplement Mums food because they had calorie input limits supposedly on health grounds but Mum was only 50kg and was really physically active so Robie used to keep her little fridge stocked with all sorts of goodies

Yup, me too. I used to take in supplies of the hi cal breakfast smoothie stuff, and threw a giant hissy fit when I came in to see it being dished out to other residents. Worked a treat, that tantrum! Wasn't about the sharing, but more about my poor budget, lol...

Totally agree ladies.

Its time for the Public to know. Having gone to the Ministry of health last time, it changed for a while but now is worse than ever.
The only difference is they now Generally have one cooked breakfast a month. And most of the time a choice of two meals for lunch. One of which is Always chicken done in a multitude of styles. ranging from Undercooked to so tough and dry they cant chew it.

If the manager tries to trespass me I will go to the papers and say how they are stopping people having visitors.. That should put her in her place. Shes been friendly lately but this really cant go on. Aged people having the runs is dangerous.

The day before's cake served up with custard the next day for pudding is also disgusting. And they are heartedly sick of apple crumble so overcooked they can chew the topping.

And if they want to get snarky the Favoritism is shocking there too. And the food amounts are different along with who gets to go on the trips and who dont.

This is where you should be sending your info to Popeye
https://www.hdc.org.nz/our-work/aged-care-commissioner/ - this department was set up especially as a result of all the cases of neglect in old peoples homes that didn’t get resolved and people died

I agree with Jan, the aged care commissioner is the person to contact. Send the photos and a copy of any written notes with dates and times as evidence to your statements. Have members of your group also write/email to support you. The more complaints the better.

To be fair, I've done the day-before-cake with custard, but the custard is made from scratch and the cake homemade. It's also usually how my duds are eaten lol.

My favourite leftover is steamed pudding wedges, dredged in sugar and slow fried in butter, and served with vanila ice cream. It was my father's delight when he saw the first lot served with custard the night before. We weren't allowed big serves of the fresh pudding, so that Mum could make his favourite the next night.

Haven't had that deliciousness for years - one pud would last me six nights these days!

Popeye was thinking about your cat biscuits in the salad - the outfit that does the school lunches at the school I do breakfast out use a lot of those bacon bits - they aren’t actually bacon but they are used in a lot of packs of Caesar salad - the outfit from Palmerston used them in shredded cabbage carrot and tiny crouton mixed with the bacon bits - then froze the lunch - when the lunch thawed all the colour had drained out of the supposed bacon into the slush that was supposed to be cabbage - they looked exactly like cat food - must ask Robie what they are made of
Made some tamarillo jam the other day - just had my first try - it’s beautiful going to make some more

I make a kind of salad crunchy mix from smashed crackers and nuts with the addition of olive oil and a bit of whatever seasoning mix is to hand, lightly baked and then stored in a little jar. One of my waste not want not recipes. I can imagine it looking a bit weird if it went through a freeze and melt stage! I'm hoping for their sakes that is the explanation.

Morning everyone

The sun is up, yay lol

Thanks for the Aged care info Jan.. The Biscuits were just 2-3 so weren't anything as a part of the meal. The cook broke them up, so they didn't look like cat biscuits. No one else had any so I dont think they were an ingredient.

Yeah I have added custard to not so fresh cakes too. but Not cakes that have been walked around the building, most times uncovered. And dried out.

Hunni my stepfather always heated his left over pudding the same way. and I am eating my pudding that I make for a week. But different in the point that its covered and in the fridge to keep it fresh. And if anyone gets sick its just me lol.

We aren't sure what they are doing with the mince. But they use it in several different ways but they get the runs from it. They have had it in a stew type way and then in a meatloaf in the last 2 weeks and both times people were sick. Dehydration can easily set in. A bloody unwelcome welcome for Carmel to be sick already.

Free listing on TM today so I might throw my stuff back on. I haven't for a wee while , hope its still inn the unsold folder lol.

Busy talking on the phone yesterday and I messed up a part of my hedgehog, so Ill try and fix it today. They can be taken off but sometimes you pull the stickiness off. But I have double sided tape to replace it if need be.

Have a fab day all

morning ladies Smile Another sunny start to the day, beds daughter and grandson slept in have been stripped and sheets on the line. Will change to 'summer' sheets for the spare beds as they won't be used now until summer time. Might as well do that now. Daughter and grandson are on their way home and the house is very quiet. The Furry One is wandering around looking a little lost.

Your paintings look lovely, popeye. And as for the food... not the most appetising at all.

Bathurst is on today, thank goodness MrK doesn't care for it lol. And it's a shame the Americas Cup isn't on until 1.00am.

Better get cracking and have a tidy up and run the vacuum over the floor.

Love the blue poppies Popeye, all of those must have taken ages to do.

Not as long as I thought it would Lillith.. When you get on a roll it grows so fast. I must **** up and see how many diamonds in that one tho.

The Missy Cat one is over 43.000 pieces and the poppies is smaller. lol

Time just melts away when we are engaged with creative things. I think our minds heal and grow in those periods when the everyday processes are quietened. Superb stress release, even better when beauty comes from such times.

I think that's probably right; I try to muck about playing in photoshop painting stuff most days.

The good thing about that is if I muck up, it can just be deleted so no wastage & I can always have another go if I want to. Smile

Totally agree.

Glad Im back into my painting and crochet

Id probably be committed if I didn't have it now lol

Edit to add

https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/...499405.jpg

Took this the other day after Missy had been supervising, aka sitting between my legs while I do my diamond painting.. I didn't even feel her "pressing" my leg but its rather cute.

One must add however that its been replaced by 3 scratches and I cant remember what I did to deserve them today lol

People’s crafting schools never cease to amaze me - your patience doing your diamond painting Popeye is impressive
The Dr Seuss was a pattern by a young artist who did a pencil drawing of Dr Seuss and no doubt with a fancy computer program converted it to a crochet pattern - I saw her work at a crochet expo and asked her if she could design a blanket that looked like the sea - my old boy when he was dying asked me to make a blanket for my granddaughters that looked like the sea as he spent a lot of time with them either in the sea or on the sea - this is what she came up with - unfortunately you can’t see the detail but the outside row looks like the foam at the edge of the sea .I made one for each of my granddaughters
https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/...692602.jpg
Then I asked her for something for my grandson whose colours were grey black and like his grandfather very no frills so was absolutely thrilled with this

https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/...692083.jpg

Can’t imagine being without my crafts - my next project is a knee rug for my brother who has a beautiful staffi - my clever artistic designer - is making changes to this pattern - turning the dog into a staffi

Can’t wait to get started
