I have a horrible sinking feeling that Trump might squeak through. This is based on the shock of him winning in 2016 when every sensible person had dismissed him as a lunatic and we still had faith in the good sense of the US public. Based on what we now see on US news the whole country looks like a cross between a dementia unit and a pre-school fancy dress parade and democracy may not hold.

Large numbers of early votes posted (particularly by women) and recent polls are showing Kamala having reasonable leads in some unexpected states. I think she might have this.

While the chance of the orange one winning is genuinely terrifying, especially for women, I think & hope that somehow, women will understand what's at stake for themselves & their daughters & vote Kamala overwhelmingly.

But what happens after the results is what's really scary.

Im thinking it could go 50/50 either way, its a bit of a hard one, but I have a feeling that Trump may have a chance of being re-elected.
I certainly would not write him off, but no matter who wins, im deeply concerned about the future of the United States.

And that in itself is a real fear for most following this election. Whoever wins the coming months/year will be challenging for US citizens and the rest of the world. A no-win situation is one way of looking at it.

The recent movie 'Civil War' is (purposely) a portrayal of one potential outcome but hopefully nothing as bad as that results.

I think that if Trump loses, either by a small margin or a massive one he'll trot out the 'rigged election' bollocks, his followers will obliging swallow it & set about creating mayhem again.
If so, then I hope their authorities are ready for it this time.

And the crowd just keeps on walking out as Trump pulls BS crowd numbers out of his arse. He's a fake and his audiences are waking up to the reality of it.

I just do not understand why he is allowed to even be a candidate. That makes America look like some kind of banana republic where the lawless can bully through the social systems without any barriers to their wrongdoing.

I don't know either, but I suspect it might be because when they set up their political system it simply didn't enter aynone's head that someday, there might be a convicted criminal seeking election as President. And really, up till now it did seem highly unlikely.

But I'm not sure that's conservatism, more common sense - although it should depend on the crime, anything serious becomes an immediate hell no.

Because Uruguay's former president Jose Mujica had committed crimes when he was a young radical & was imprisoned for several years, but went on to become one of the most widely admired Presidents.

If Trump looks even slghtly like losing, he's almost certainly going to claim fraud & has already planted the seeds for that. There could well be chaos over there.
