Regarding turn jersey into cardi  it us possible and persham tape/ grosgrain ribbon is often used to stabkise the edges of knit cardi. Possible with careful cutting  minimal handling. Overlicker would be useful to use in this instance. If you look at lots rtw carries petersham ribbon is used.

Seems I have damaged my rotator cuff  so few physio visits in my future.

DD and DGD1 came to ours for dinner tonight  she provided the chops and coleslaw  poor DSIL  is still poorly.

morning ladies Rain is coming, or so they say

Ahh buggar, mica, I hope you mend quickly.

We were watching Aljazeera while making lunch yesterday and there's the hikoi on the international news. They even had a 'live crossover'. And we heard on the evening news there was only one arrest. Always one isn't there

I too had never heard of steeking before and had to look it up. Brilliant! And it looks pretty straight forward to do although knowing me, I'd stuff it up lol. Lots of practice swatches first I would think.

There is a small part of the garden to weed, and I should finish that today. Since my big weeding session there are only a few weeds to pull but I would rather do that now before it all turns into a bigger job than it needs to be. The first lily is flowering, it's always the same one. I have a Dublin Bay cane to trim back before the lawn is mowed tomorrow. Dublin Bay is coming into her prime now, roughly eight years old and has been looking amazing. An oldie but a goodie. I have space for two more compact-type climbing roses and one bolshy climber. I'm thinking Leaping Salmon, New Dawn and Tequila Sunrise. All very different.

I'll work on this hardanger piece later this afternoon. Not too thrilled with the colour choice but will keep at it.

New Dawn is a stunner, I have had her on a tall fence, in Blenheim where the chilly winters were perfect for roses. And grapes, lol. I also planted Mermaid further down that fence, and she was really glorious, but she definitely needs room to throw enormous lengths. Those roses grew up in bigger gardens than the ones we get these days - like the old fashioned blue climbers we rarely spot now, threading their way through old trees.

Roses and salvias, and hydrangeas, all coming into their best in our spring gardens. It is a lovely time of year.

Morning everyone

Chilly ish this morning. No rain as yet here either.

My stepfather had beautiful gardens. Lots of roses and a wall covered in Dublin Bay. We used hie own roses at his funeral. Sprinkled around his gumboots and hat he always wore when out in the sun.

Off to painting today. And now Colleen can join us more often. She finally has a chair on wheels so we can push her around. And then can have her feet up under the table.

My Hydrangea is starting to look much better, my only problem is the flowers face away to the sun. I need to put it on a lazy susan type thing so I can turn it around to see the flowers lol.

Not a breath of wind and there is sunshine. 

I hope you can get started soon on rotor cuff rehab Mica. The pain not nice and even worse at night. The physio I had using a rubber resistance band most effective and I still try to keep up with the exercises.

I agree, it's a lovely time of the year in the garden.  My pink (that I wish were blue) hydrangeas increasing in colour each day. The rear neighbour also has a hydrangea that they have left untamed and it hovers over the tall wooden fence right behind one of my hydrangeas .... in brilliant blue    Nice backdrop though! 

No plan today ... everything is standing tall after a good water last night,  so will grab a few stray weeds at some stage.

Morning all 
When I got up 6.30 it was bucketing down and brisk breeze,  sun out now not sure what to expect for rest of the day.

My original injury was way back in May, just noticing restricted mobility so trotted off to physio. Alot of what I do at gym has been good for it have some homework  exercises. So will keep at it.
All the roses sound so nice lots around in the gardens here the one growing in our back garden doesn't really appeal to me but I have been removing the dead flowers  hopefully I am doing it correctly cutting the flower stem where it comes off branch. Good thing we kept DH good secateurs  for cutting up pigs ears.

No real plans for today perhaps the dress might finally get cut out 3rd day lucky.

I had Mermaid when we lived in town and planted it with Wedding Day. They looked amazing together and wound their way across an archway and up a very big maple tree. Wacked them both back when time to prune and away they would go again next season. Mermaid has the most vicious thorns a rose can possibly have!

The big blue salvias have flowers on them, and some are turning blue already. Empress Wu, the hosta, is yet to reach her full 1.6m potential. This is the third year I have grown it and still not the height it is meant to be. A gorgeous hosta nevertheless.

Time for a cuppa before I go into town for our meds - and that includes the Furry One lol.

morning ladies We could use some rain, please!

Not a lot happening today, the lawn is being mowed, and the recycling needs to be done along with sorting MrK's 'script. They wouldn't give him one of his meds as it wasn't due until today. One flippin' day!

I'm keeping track of my weight as these new pills have weight gain as a side effect. Gained two kilos in the first week even though I was watching very carefully what I ate. Lost it in the second week then gained 200g the following week. Now I've lost 1.2 kilos this week. It's nuts.

I didn't get to dead head the roses yesterday so will do that this morning before going into town.

Takes a while for our bodies to compensate for new chemicals, or changed old ones. I am trying to reduce anti inflammatories because the new GP doc is wary of them with the anticoags, but my bones do not like the reduced amount.And I do not enjoy it when the bones start arguing with me, lol. Still, I can at least say with all honestly I did try, but - the ortho consultant who prescribed them just might have known what was best.

The buyer for the old scoot is giving me doubtful vibes. He wants to bring cash rather than do an internet transfer and has a couple of failed trades in his feedback history with hints of standover tactics. I may be relisting, but we'll see. I hate it when trades get weird. But hey, I might be wrong...

DS and 2 grand kids popped in late yesterday afternoon its nice that they do that it validates our decision to stay local.
Got sparkly  dress sewn and finished so it in Xmas pressie pile. Found another piece of knit fabric stored with sparkly  so will make another skater dress for DGD1 easier to make the fabric up than to store it with limited space.

After doing all my exercises my movement is more restricted must have activated something but it is frustrating to seem to go backwards. Started a diary to track progress 

My morning at the warehouse and grocery shopping after lunch.

The roses have a good dose of epsom salts, here's hoping the rain comes to wash it into the soil.  A few pots repotted and roses dead headed.  The wheelie bins smell divine lol.

Having someone with you when the buyer rocks up sounds like a good idea.  I hate it when people try to intimidate, back off buster, this chick won't take your cr**!

Had a late night, or rather early morning. I wanted to finish the Mandela, cos Ive decided to do the Message Picture for Annies Birthday on Dec 23rd.. Funny tho cos Dianne is doing one for her too .. Its so funny that we are soo alike and think the same way lol.

Will got to Pukekohe today. Need some extra ingredients for the Christmas sweets cooking.

We were talking about me now being Entitled, or Eligible for Social Housing yesterday.. yes I say Social Housing all poshlike lol.. As much as I want to stay local, especially so I can see my ladies, if I have to move away there are some positive things to look forward to.

if I end up in Pukekohe, Ill be able to go back to my favourite Dr, the one who understood what MrP was like, and who also put me on the drug that has helped me loose my weight, and Ill have a choice of many more supermarkets to be able to shop around.

If I end up in Papakura it will be a big change, new everything.

But I plan on joining WI, used to be CWI again. We dont have a local one here. So a great way to make new friends.

Maybe its meant to happen this way.

Good News we located my Tupperware container. And Im proud of the fact that I didn't see red and complain. But I was worried that if it had been stolen, what else could have walked off.

Kiwimade, I tend to gain or lose up to two kilos, I say Im floating. It should settle tho. But it is amazing how we notice the gains and losses.

Well, I consider myself one of the luckiest women in the city, having this little flat in what was a council pensioner housing village. I have a friend hitting 65 next year who rents a really run down upstairs flat in an old villa type house, cold, uninsulated, with dodgy rental conditions, and she pays $650 a week. It is really close to shops and beach so not a total catastrophe, but I pay $364 a fortnight for this flat and it comes with all those lovely things like maintenance, healthy homes updates, free water, and nosy neighbours lol.

I just wish every low income person had access to such a safe, affordable home. It makes life so much easier, healthier, and happier. As for the way people regard social housing, usually that's because they think it's only for problem people, and they've never actually been inside a home like mine. Sure we get the odd strange person - they deserve homes too - but in my experience the rest of us make the best use of the home we have and are very grateful for the privilege.

One thing is for sure, they'll drag me out of this much loved space kicking and screaming lol. I have spent a lot of time making this perfect for me, and it is just wonderful. I have no doubt you will do the same popeye, when you get the keys to your new place!

Btw, I was wrong about the trade. Money in account, buyer on the way to pick up right now, plenty of nosy neighbours around to step in if voices get raised, but I think it'll be fine...

And it will be great having that space in the scooter shelter to park the blue monster more easily!

Exactly re Social housing. When I was a kid we lived in  a "State" house. But always well looked after. Ill be thankful to have a cheaper roof over my head to give me a little more life. 

The thought of not being able to see my ladies and friend often is sad, but I am starting to think this is really is the change I need. but if I have more money Ill be able to visit occassionally. 

I dont want a massive social life like my friend in NP. Im a home body. But I always loved CWI and cant wait to be back into that. 

My biggest concern is Missy. If Im in a  town where I dont know anyone and I end up in hospital Im stuffed when it comes to Madams feeding etc. 

So I simply have to stay well and make sure I dont have any unplanned events to hospital.

Local cat rescue places often run a home feed and care service for just such eventualities, and the local suburb facebook group is also a good place to find reliable people who can pop in daily to feed and scoop, and their charges are usually much better. That's how I found my helper when I had my hip done, I paid her $20 a day, four days guaranteed with more if I was kept in, but it was fine. She was great, helped out in other ways too when I hobbled in two days after the op, lol.

Pleased the trade went well Hunni.

Tipping down here first thing, Madame Le Cat went out into it very briefly then yelled at the door to come back in. I happened to see her racing down the back lawn to the door - I had no idea she could run that fast! What a pity there are no feline olympics...

Once the rain stopped I ventured to the library, firmly resolved to get just one book - or no more than three at the most. That was the absolute definite limit.

So I came home with four...

I didn't go to Pukekohe. I worked a detailed list and it would have cost me $4 more to go over than the buy the same stuff here slightly dearer. My Attempt at Extreme couponing lol..

Only I really didnt save anything so Blonde chick brought the wrong tv guide, so Ill have to buy another tomorrow. Ive gone all week without one, to now have it for 2.5 days lol.

And Im having a week of eat what is here, which is always fun. I become more creative when I have limits lol.
