Orcon email outage?
#1
I still have an orcon email address ive used for decades now (showing my age) mostly for trademe and get a ton of trademe related emails to it, just noticed between the 5th and this morning there has been no emails that have arrived.
Checked webmail and nothing new in there either, and nothing in spam, was wondering if anyone else here has an orcon address and experienced issues?

I have an ancient and ignored Orcon email address. I've just had a look and the last email in the inbox is dated 6 December 2024. The account used to get huge quantities of spam but that seems to have dried up in recent months.

not here i'm afraid...
This world would be a perfect place if it wasn't for the people.

Unless TM had issues with its email system, I'm assuming it's happened at orcons end.
I've hung onto it purely because I have so many things I've registered it with over the years.

Actually I think it might be a trademe issue, getting zero email notifications on auctions expiring, i can send and receive to other email addresses of mine, so the account is working.

TradeMe doesn't seem to put much effort into keeping their site working these days.

I've had deleted unsold items re-appear, and other unsold items vanish by themselves.

They have a bug where a fixed price offer won't be passed through to afterpay, it'll try to charge you the original listing price instead.
It's been like that for months, and contacting them about it just gets a "we're aware of this and working on it" reply.

Not to mention the completely inconsistent brain-damaged-Microsoft-mentality of having two different UIs that you can switch between, but only for certain things. Total mess.

So yeah, if their email service is down, I'm not surprised.

Trademe then tells me the messages were going into spam, how they can even tell that is beyond me, but either way i had no spam filter running on either the ISP end or my mail client.
They then say they removed the block on the filter and to add their email addresses to my safe senders list on my filter.
I suspect they were getting mixed up with a spam filter blacklist which the mail server was filtering out before it even got to me, some email addresses do get on these blacklists and this is what I suspect was happening. but at least its working now.
