Coromandel shootings
#1
Apparently this is the alleged offender in the shootings that happened on the 309 Road last week. I immediately suspected it may have been retribution against poachers but this puts a whole different perspective on the event.

Yes you need to be careful of whose pigs you are poaching and butchering in the back of your truck.

It's not the least charm of a theory that it is refutable. The hundred-times-refuted theory of "free will" owes its persistence to this charm alone; some one is always appearing who feels himself strong enough to refute it - Friedrich Nietzsche

The mother should be grateful that the situation was reported sufficiently quickly that evidence of her “ratbag, free-spirited son" wasn't consumed by the pigs.

With their caretaker/owner now being in custody/remand no doubt the poor pigs are being poached willy nilly.

The poor old chap; I doubt he'd survive a prison term. Being away from his pigs would probably break his heart, & I hope his friends can somehow make sure they come to no further harm.

While I wouldn't condone his actions, they are understandable & I think deliberately killing what were effectively domestic pets is despicable.

Intelligent pigs, about as intelligent as a four year old apparently.

in order to be old & wise, you must first be young & stupid. (I'm still working on that.)

He's remanded in custody & the future of his pigs is uncertain.

There are some people trying to take care of the pigs, they've set up a fund raising page.

If someone was trying to steal my cat - to eat - and I had a gun, I'd shoot them too.

Absolutely my sentiments too, and the same applies to our livestock who are essentially edible pets, but only by us or our kin.

Me too - those pigs are his family & zero skill is required to kill them because they're so tame & deliberately shooting a tame animal is despicable, the act of a coward. Dodgy

I don't really have any sympathy for the fella he shot, not that it was an excuse for his actions. The world is better off without such scumbags.
He wasn't a poacher, he literally shot his treasured animals.
