Been a reasonably  productive day. Weekly cleaning chores completed, good flat white for morning tea. Fitted the dress lining just a couple of tweaks so cut out the dress fabric.  

DS and family popped in to share DGS birthday cake also picked up his birthday presents. Jumbo jigsaw puzzle roll up mat, jigsaw and a book. 

DH been painting perfecting herd elephants experimenting with different  techniques  to get the colours right..

Easy dinner tonight salad and chocolate birthday cake for dessert.

morning ladies The fog is clearing away and the sun is coming out.

It was our daughter's birthday yesterday as well. She took her birthday present home with her, unopened on Boxing Day.

Today I plan to start a bit of weeding, rest, weed, rest, weed... I might even chase a few Furry Feinds off the garden while I'm at it. I'll dead head the roses as I work around them. Claude Monet is struggling in the pot so over the next few days I'll find a permanent spot for it. It has grown quite big compared to where we started after the tree fell on it. And Graham Thomas has also recovered from being smashed to bits and is flowering away. Amazing how life goes on.

We saw on the news last evening how the Hikurangi Marine Reserve is recovering after the Kaikoura earthquake. Just shows if we leave things alone what can happen.

We have had a lot of traffic over the past few days with so much going on over at the mount. And we're expecting more tomorrow for New Years Eve.

Morning everyone

A nice start to the day. Only a gentle breeze. Hopefully when I get home I can weed spray.

Trying to decide if Ill go up to the home or not lol.. I want to meet Davids Mum so I need to go. lol.. They are having arts and crafts today too so many hands make light work.

Madam was downright Norty last night. Thought she might get up on the hall stand and have a closer look at the Christmas stuff. She didn't break or disturb anything, but sadly for her I heard her.. So she got a telling off. I will take it down tomorrow.
She hasn't touched the tree which has been great lol.

Claude Monet has his permanent home, and I saw why the leaves were yellowing no matter how much love and food I gave it. The drainage was poor, so it was constantly sitting in wet soil, and no one likes a soggy bottom! Before I use that pot again, I will make more holes. Fingers crossed he will be happy where he is as I am NOT moving it for the seventh time. My body and soul feel so much better for that little bit of happy time in the garden.

The neighbours septic tank needs emptying... nothing like the smell of eau de poop. We're thinking it won't be until after the new year. The owners should have emptied the septic tank before they rented out the house. We were thinking we have had ours emptied three times since we moved here and once while we rented after we sold our home in town. The neighbour's tank hasn't been emptied since the ho use was moved there and that was 10 years ago.

Time for a bit of stitching time as I rest (again).

morning ladies Overcast start to the day, we could use some rain but those celebrating the New Year wouldn't appreciate that lol.

I have an early start as I need to get to the supermarket, we're running out of basics. I hate crowds and want to leave early to beat traffic and people if possible.

Claude Monet is having a wee sulk, and I will give it a drink before I leave. The wind yesterday battered it about, but it should be OK.

Our insurance company has changed how they take their premiums. Rather than one lump sum, it is now three payments. And we can pay fortnightly now rather than monthly.

Better get cracking.

Got some sewing done yesterday listened to audio book. Two of my ebook reserves arrived as well so read while DH watched cricket last night.

Morning everyone

Has rained overnight. but dry at present. Grey tho.

Had a nice time at the home yesterday. No tensions. Annie was out and Colleen was stay9ing close to her commode, something had upset her tummy.

Good news tho Colleen and Dianne are talking again, for now.

So Irene, Dianne and I sat in the dining room pretty much by ourselves which was good.

Going to pack away Christmas today and then I will have to decide what Im putting out again. Could move the Tupperware and then use the hall stand for other stuff. But decamping is first.

The odd thing is Both Dianne and I are extremely Tired. Don't know if its the weather, over working or what. But the bones are dragging and we just want to sleep early.

Ohhh, the relief... twenty one days without internet, what an experience. I discovered just how addicted I am to this mode of everything, how much time I waste? Fritter? Occupy? I really really missed being able to wish my Perth family Merry Christmas, despite not celebrating it here, I missed not being able to look up a word, or a fact, or google something strange, I missed email, and youtube, and streaming, and farcebook, and my morning cup of tea with you guys.

Most of all I learned Never Ever change providers at christmas time. Stupid woman.

Still, all over now, I'm back...

Oooh not fun, hope you had plenty of books. And yes, I'm guessing that most of us are addicted too; I did get somewhat tetchy last time there was some damn thing which went wrong for no good reason.
Well, part from me being a technoklutz..

 It s a handy way to keep in touch, too especially as we age. There was a time when I kept in touch with distant friends & family by letter writing but these days its mostly onlline & my handwriting is abysmal now thanks to constant (dire) typing.

Cold & wet here, so much for more weeding. Did dreaded groceries earlier & although it wasn't as crowded as Xmas eve there were still quite a lot of people. I was lucky with the rain though & it didn't start again till I was home.

I have learned a lot about myself, in various ways over these weeks. I sorted out the art cupboard - good heavens woman! How many stamp pads does one person need? The hospice shop will benefit. I then pulled out the boxes of old personal papers and filled two brown grocery bags with ripped up Important Stuff, that really wasn't important at all. I discovered the box of beautiful soft baby handknits me and my Mum made for the ungrateful little beast I raised - chip off old block, but not a knitter. Those made me weepy, so hospice bag for them too. Tossed out forty round cork backed placemats gessoed and part worked for an exhibition that I backed out of thirteen years ago - when family deaths and imminent homelessness forced one of those life change things - that project was going to be so cool too, but no, get real Michele, it aint going to happen. Broke down the two aquariums ready to sell, and built up a planted fishbowl to keep the best plants going. It'll keep my interest going, watery terrarium. And I gave myself another little typewriter for Christmas, one obsession replaces another. Will service it and have a play once the new year lets me access new ribbons again, though this one might be a tad hard-to-find, being one of the rarer models. Much fun to be had in the hunt though. And it is very pretty, lol... And I unearthed during the sort out my ancient Parker fountain pen, so have an excuse to go visit my favourite bespoke stationer and indulge in a coloured ink cartridge, but what colour? Teal blue? Violet? Hot pink? Ooooh, lime green?

Oh the possibilities! Roll on 2025. Imagine that people, we made it all the way to 25...

Yup. We've made it to 2025. Well, almost lol.

The supermarket was busy, and I thought I was the smart one going so early lol. Bunnings wasn't so bad though.

Heaven help me from stupid people. It took an hour to sort our insurance out with AMI. The woman on the other end of the phone was hopeless. FIVE times she put me on hold. All I wanted was for one payment for our monthly premiums to be made each month or if they insist on having one payment per policy, then take it all out on the same day. Just as well they pay claims quickly.

I'm going to spend New Years Day in my happy place. Well, some of it. We'll see how the body goes The rain we had last week has encouraged weeds to grow and that blimmen convolvulus grows a mile a minute. And Graham Thomas needs tying back so we can enjoy the golden goodness of his flowers. It looks like Claude Monet has stopped sulking and might even be greening up a bit.

Yesterday afternoon I wound the last of my mother-in-law's threads onto bobbins and made room in my cupboard for them. I've ended up with an extra three of those plastic tackle boxes and our daughter took as much again home with her. While I was winding, MrK rewatched Season 4 of Yellowstone so he could follow the final season. A nice easy afternoon for both of us.

Good morning and a very Happy New Year to all. 

We leave the family today on our way home over the next week or so.  Traveling back along the East Coast this time. Love exploring (small areas of) the SI ... such a beautiful part of NZ ... glad to have our bikes to get out and about (DH happy place).

I'm pleased there's been some rain back home and know my garden will be coping better! Mixed weather for us but enough fine times to get out and about.  Certainly enjoy the much cooler night temperatures!

Happy New Year KM and all of you crafters.  I occasionally lurk, but don't contribute much because I'm not much of a crafter.   I am a gardener however, and have been spending the last several mornings battling the oxalis which is erupting in my rose bed along with infant convolvulus plants which I guess have been spread by birds from the masses of it that infest our hydrangeas and camellia hedges from the untended paddock next door..  

I will try to be more chatty this year.

OMG Hunni Id have gone stark raving Bonkers with 21 days without the net. But Welcome back..

We haven't had all the rain they said we would.. Hard to think we are a 3rd of the way through summer.

Yesterday I decamped Christmas, apart from the cards. Im loving my Retro Tupperware display on the white bookshelf. Almost looks like it was made for it. That would tick MrP off lol.

I have the meerkats I did like from his collection out. and the Kingfisher and Fantail. But it still looks bare on the hall stand. Ill figure something out tho. And the coffee table is naked as well. And the little shelf I put opposite the front door has all the things my Taranaki Sister friend has given me over the years on it.

At the home on Monday they were having a clear out in the Activities store cupboard. I came home with a pack of 10 pieces of Satin. 29 cms wide and 240 cms long (Did I mention this already?) Thinking of laying one over the coffee table, will have to be double tho. It says they are satin Sashes, I wonder what they were originally for and what the home was going to do with them, but didn't.

Im undecided about going up to the home today. Dianne I assume wont be there, Hubby wants to go out fishing. I think its more to prove He WILL use the boat they got. Dianne would rather not go so was hoping for wind or rain. I might text her soon ad see if she is going to the home.

I also would like to meet Davids Mum so arghhhhh Ill decide in a bit lol.

Have also decided I need to have a further cull in the craft room... But even better I added two things to the glory box yesterday and it feels good. Why have a large "Posh" cutlery set and never use it now. So it will be used when I move. 'I used to use it for our "Formal Dinners" a group of us used to have. Moving house each weekend and generally having fun. No snobbyness, no competition.

Always use the good stuff popeye, otherwise it will end up in some op shop, unloved, just waiting for some sharp eyed dealer to pounce on.

I am fighting mignionette. A neighbour let it run rampant and now it has seeded everywhere, horrible thing has nothing to recommended it beyond being an old cottage garden plant, but the seedlings do pull out easily, small mercies.

I am hoping the rain stays away, I need my Wednesday coffee and cake...
