This can run at 20 kilometres an hour, & as far as 50 kilometres. Looking at that footage, I thought these could perhaps be useful in search & rescue situations, especially in hilly & mountainous areas, even if that was only to locate & give food/water/temporary shelter to anyone lost or injured.

That seems well in advance of anything the Americans have shown, good find Lilith7.

Yeah, & they could be quite handy too, in various ways.

That video looked CGI to ne at first but if this thing is for real, then it's going to give Boston dynamics a run for its money!

The "news" agency reporting it is run by the Chinese Communist Party and is essentially their international propaganda outlet (why else would the CCP want to fund an English language news agency?). As such, I inclined to not believe anything it puts out unless it's confirmed by some other more reliable source.
And, like nzoomed says, the video looks very CGI to me too.

If its CGI the good thing about it is that its showing an idea.
And some aspects of it could be helpful in various situation, which means that some clever people might just make something similar as a result.

All I know is I don't put anything past China, they seem to be very technologically capable for some time now, just look at their advances in the space field.
In some ways they have probably surpassed Japan in alot of areas I feel, they seem to be behind in the robotics field these days.

They're advancing with eco/green cities too. Perhaps, if any country can find a better way to live without mucking up our environment, it might just be China.

Yeah - it just makes us feel so very safe, doesn't it.
